Chapter 7423: Super-Destroyer System

Ves grew happy with the initial results.

The modules he cobbled together in a hurry may be unrefined to the extreme, but they held up well enough to prove that his solution worked!

The Elegant Cut was able to cut through solid matter with the same ease as a tier 9 or a tier 8 Destroyer weapon!

Even though its overall performance still remained within the range of a ’measly’ low-tier Destroyer weapon, Ves still considered this to be a major breakthrough!

By artificially inducing the doubling effect on the Destroyer particles locked inside the blade on a brief and intermittent basis, Ves was able to enhance the lethality of the Elegant Cut!

This was quite impressive considering that the dress sword possessed very low concentration of Destroyer particles compared to other genuine Destroyer weapons.

The modified Elegant Cut managed to punch above its weight not once, but a dozen times!

Ves did not settle with a single empowered attack. He repeated the same moves, but quickly had to stop when he noticed that the repeated overloads had caused the blade to become damaged and lose its mirror-like shine.

"Damn, that happened faster than I expected."

He already predicted that activating this mode would cause the surrounding structure to incur damage, but the material composition of the blade was so weak and thin that it lost its integrity too quickly.

Well, it was not like it could hold out for long. The weapon had not been designed to endure this degree of localized spatial disturbances.

The blade also could not withstand the increased discharge of destroyer particles for the same reasons.

Ves grew more dissatisfied with the Elegant Cut.

That was not to say he thought that Senior Smith Jiesera Dostoevskaya had dropped the ball. She fulfilled the requirements of her commission exactly according to its minimum requirements.

He just felt disappointed that she had so little room to work with that she had been unable to expand the buffer of the Elegant Cut.

The slender blade lacked redundancies that enabled it to withstand elevated stresses.

This turned the Elegant Cut into a weapon performed well under normal circumstances, but could easily fall apart as soon as it was used to resist forces beyond normal calculation.

"I can’t accept this weakness."

If he wanted to overhaul the Elegant Cut to turn it into a suitable companion and defender for his child, then he had to make sure to beef it up and enable it to endure much greater forces.

As Ves proceeded to examine the damage to the blade, he gained a greater understanding of the effects of his latest innovation.

His overall conclusion was that the initial implementation worked in principle, but had an enormous amount of room for improvement!

The new amplification gadget spilled lots of destructive energies into useless directions, thereby going to waste.

The fact that a significant proportion of released energies ended up damaging the Destroyer-resistant materials of the weapon itself meant that Ves had to pay a lot more attention to channeling the additional output!

Ves loosely estimated that the new mechanism ultimately reached an effectiveness of just 20 percent if he was being optimistic.

In other words, the amplification to the Elegant Cut could have been 4 times greater if he eliminated all of the waste!

Reaching this ideal was impossible, but he should be able to make ample progress so long as he invested serious time into further development and optimization.

"I might not have enough time to tinker so much with this new invention." He frowned.

The main problem was not its effectiveness.

Considering the noticeable differences in lethality between the two versions of the Elegant Cut, he had no reason to doubt the value of his latest design application.

What he truly felt bothered with was that his latest invention represented an encroachment on a branch of technology that had always been claimed by the Terran people.

If a citizen of the Greater Terran United Confederation and the Terran Alliance came up with this innovation and made use of it, nobody would kick up a fuss.

It had become an established truth that the Terrans had staked their claim on Destroyer technology.

This was not an idle boast, but a real convention that was backed up with deeds, not just words.

No matter how much Ves had improved his relations with the Terrans, what he did had definitely crossed the line.

Friends did not casually infringe on each other’s trade secrets!

At the very least, exposure could inflict serious damage on their supposed ’friendship’!

Ves was not naive to think that he could keep his clandestine experimentation a secret forever.

Secrets had a way of slipping out of one’s grasp at inopportune moments.

Still, that did not deter him from continuing to make use of what he made. The power boost was too great for him to ignore. It could have made a huge difference in the last few battles. He would be a fool to set it aside just because the Terrans had a habit of being overly territorial when it came to this particular subject.

Nonetheless, Ves decided to make an effort to be discreet with his early implementations of this new tech.

Since this was still in early development, he decided to hold himself back from implementing it onto the Withering Sting.

This was his other self’s flagship weapon. The Dark Apostle would definitely grow upset if Ves converted his greatest offensive reliance into an unstable testbed!
