Chapter 100
Before they tried out for the force.
Violet, and Brooks were all stationed in the war zone, but they’d never
Some were from spec-ops member, others handled covert assignments.
They’d all tramed their bodies and skills to a sharp edge-none of them were what one’d call average.
But because they were so young and their jobs so different, they’d never been sent to real battlefields.
In other words, to earn a shot at joining the task force, they’d spent countless hours secretly drilling-but when it came to real-life combat, they had zero experience.
After all, Zoria was a peaceful country-no wars, no battles-so there were barely any chances for them to storm the front lines.
So guys like Andrew, Brooks, and Aurelio, even though they were spec-ops members, were still pretty green at actual combat
missions
The only ones with any real experience were those like Oliver, who’d served in the field units and seen the real deal.
Oliver had been keeping a close eye on Nova ever since she pulled off that insane AK-18 teardown.
He genuinely admired Bloodforge, the legendary weapons maker, so the excitement in his eyes wasn’t faked.
But what really mattered was, Oliver was quietly sizing Nova up from the shadows, trying to figure out what she was truly capable of
He hadn’t cracked her secrets yet, but the more he dug, the more he realized Nova was anything but simple.
And the craziest part………..
She was shockingly familiar with mercenary life!
“You’ve dealt with mercs before? Oliver broke in
Nova didn’t hesitate. “Yeah,” she said, just like that
As soon as Nova admitted it, the dozen people in front of her all froze on the spot, totally dumbstruck.
Nova kept going, her voice steady.
Tve wandered through all sorts of countries, run into mercs more times than I can count.
“That’s all stuff I picked up from talking with them.”
She kept a straight face, spinning convincing lies as if it was second nature.
To be honest, before she ever returned to the Blake family. Nova barely ever lied.

dered ofwhen she was a kid and spent more than a decade lost.” Andrew explained, milking the story for th. She only showed up again recently, can you believe it…?
Everyone abruptly fell silent, if they’d all suddenly realized the same thing, and instinctively closed their mouths.
What could really happen to a girl who looked so helpless if she ended up following these criminals?
Wasn’t it just like those awful stories that played over and over again on the news?
Even Violet, who’d never liked Nova, just opened her mouth and then forced herself to stay silent.
‘Nova… the girl I’ve always hated… Violet thought, feeling tangled inside.
‘All this time, I thought she was just some stuck-up rich girl… Violet muttered in her head, suddenly unsure.
‘So she didn’t actually grow up spoiled and pampered?’
“Thanks for stepping up and telling us,” the selection officer said, turning to Nova.
“I’ll go talk to them.
“If We
can settle this with cash, let’s not start trouble. Otherwise, it’ll just screw up our mission.
“Eyes on me, folks,” the selection officer said, glancing around to make sure everyone caught his signal.
Nova’s quick thinking got the ball rolling.
Pushed by her suggestion, the selection officer went right up to the squad and started negotiating face-to-face.
They didn’t even hesitate to cough up the toll fee just to get through.
Just like Nova had guessed, these mercs chasing danger didn’t/mind making a little easy cash on the side.
Why turn down easy money?
Once the cash changed hands, the meres didn’t stir up any trouble–they just waved the group through without a second thought.
As they walked past the mercenary squad, everyone held their breath, trified that even a loud exhale might set the mercs off and make them change their minds.
But Nova was the only one who didn’t seem the least bit nervous. As she strolled through, she lazily checked out the shabby tents scattered around the camp.
Up ahead, a bunch of mercs were gathered around filthy, rickety tables, yelling and laughing like wild animals, smoking, drinking, and tearing into chunks of meat like they hadn’t eaten in days.
These were the lowest of the low-mercs so far down the food chain they didn’t even get their own place to crash.
Maybe they got paid decent cash, but at the end of the day, they were just selling their lives for somebody else’s dirty
business.
For them, every day was a win-just surviving was all they could hope for.
Nobody ever knew when death would come knocking-maybe tomorrow they’d just drop on some battlefield, with no one even blinking an eye.

They turned down a couple of side streets and ended up at the mouth of a dim alleyway.
Even though it was a slow night for foot traffic, Andrew had no problem spotting the casino up ahead. The place stuck out like a sore thumb-loud, packed, and bursting with energy, its neon lights glaring through the gloom.
Oversized red letters loomed above the entrance: “Seduction Casino”.
Inside and out, gamblers milled about nonstop, turning the whole scene into a rowdy nighttime marketplace buzzing with noise and chaos.
“Seduction Casino?” Andrew echoed, his eyes bulging as he stared at Nova in disbelief.
He paused for a moment, then sneakily reached down the back of his pants, trying to discreetly fix his wedged underwear with zero dignity.
“Nova, don’t tell me you’re really planning to-
But before he could finish, Nova swung her leg and landed a sharp kick to his backside.
Not only did Nova’s kick yank his underwear tight like a rope, but the jolt of pain was so sharp that Andrew nearly let out a wolf’s howl.
Before he could make a peep, Nova clapped a hand over his mouth fast as lightning.
He didn’t even get a chance to scream and let out the pain.
Getting booted right on the butt hurt like hell for a second, but it was the kind of pain that faded fast and left no lasting damage.
Honestly, it was just like when grown-ups swat a kid on the backside-makes one yelp, but that’s about it.
It stings enough to teach one a lesson, but it’s not gonna actually do any damage-just like how grown-ups swat a kid’s butt to make sure they never forget.
Nova’s kick, plus her hand clamped over his mouth, left Andrew no room to yell. The sting was so intense it made his eyes water on the spot.
In no time, his eyes were all red, looking like he’d just finished crying his heart out.
“It’s game time,” Nova said, cool as ever.

juction Casme wasn’t the kind of place that just let new faces stroll in whenever they wanted.
A newcomer had to report to the casino office first-real name registration only. Full name, nationality, ID, all the paperwork-one wasn’t getting past those doors without proving identity.
Getting stopped at the door was exactly what Nova had expected.
She didn’t panic at all. She just grabbed Andrew still sniffling from the pain-and put on a look that was equal parts nervous and desperate.
She replied in flawless Veldorian, her voice steady and convincing.
