Zane seemed to make a unilateral decision in a commanding tone, but that wasn’t the full picture.

The Morgan family, the Blake family, and the Summers family were known as the “big three families.”

The Morgan family ranked first in wealth, status, and power. The Summers family came in second, and the Blake family was last.

Given all that, if Zane proposed a marriage alliance with Nova in the name of his family, the Blake family would have only two choices–accept or face bankruptcy.

That was the source of Zane’s confidence.

“Are you kidding me? Arranged marriage in this day and age?” Hannah scoffed. “Listen, Zane, even if my family ends up bankrupt, we will never accept such a shameless proposal. Now, take your people and get lost!”

Hannah was the first to react, roaring at Zane. Her words were harsh, but she showed backbone. She couldn’t stand Nova, but she would never use her as a bargaining chip.

Maxwell instinctively pulled Nova behind him, warning sharply, “Zane, was I not clear enough last time? Nova is my sister. Lay a finger on her, and I swear you’ll regret it.”

Beside them, Sophia, Ethan, and Claire were all stunned. No one expected Zane to seriously propose marrying Nova.

The girls who would usually be squealing stood frozen in shock.

Nova, the person at the center of it all, watched calmly. With her abilities, let alone Zane and his family, even the ruler of Zoria’s economy couldn’t stand a chance against her.

What surprised her was Hannah’s reaction. She thought, ‘Huh, it seems my sister isn’t so bad after all.‘

The face–off between the Free Combat Club and the Taekwondo Club had already drawn attention. It started with Zane’s provocation at his birthday party over Maxwell protecting Nova. Everyone was eager to see the

outcome.

But now, the result would determine the survival of the Blake family and Nova’s engagement, pushing the drama to its absolute peak.

“Hey, Zane, what the hell are you doing? Nova’s my mentor. Are you serious?” Ethan whispered urgently beside Zane.

Zane didn’t answer, giving Nova only a deep look. His gaze locked fiercely with Maxwell’s from a distance. Zane smirked. “Whether I can lay a finger on her depends on your strength.”

Zane’s meaning was clear–he didn’t see Nova as a worthy opponent at all. No matter her past, to him, she was just a girl from the slums, powerless against him.

He never doubted this for a second. So he bypassed Nova, issuing a challenge to Maxwell, completely disregarding her feelings.

Just as everyone thought the situation was settled, a cold female voice cut through. “I will take my brother’s place in the duel.”

It was Nova. She would face Zane herself. The outcome of the two clubs rivalry hinged on the critical match between the leaders, Maxwell and Zane.

Hearing Nova’s words, the crowd erupted.

Hannah stared wide–eyed. “Nova, what nonsense is this? We never agreed to it.”

Maxwell raised his voice. “Absolutely not.”

Julian was dumbfounded. “Nova, are you serious? You can’t defeat Zane.”

Everyone began objecting.

Nova ignored every one of them, her cold eyes fixed on Zane. “I’m not asking for permission. I’m informing you. I’ll fight this duel. Zane, you better be ready.”
