This wasn’t just any provocation. It was a sharper, fiercer counterattack than Frank’s contempt.
Nova wasn’t just talking about a literal seat. She meant taking over his position.
Anyone in the underground black market would understand that implication.
An ordinary person would have been terrified by Frank imposing presence and the scale of his operation. But Nova actually declared her intentions like this.
The air froze. Frank’s lip twitched, his men staring in shock.
Ethan cheered inwardly, ‘Awesome, Nova!” He had almost been overwhelmed by Frank’s presence moments before, and now his admiration for Nova soared.
Victor and the Frostwave Bar crew were dumbfounded.
“Girl, that’s not a joke you should make,” Frank said, drawing a finger across his neck with an ominous tone. “It could cost you your head.”
The two sides were locked in a standoff. Sensing the tension, Victor broke into a cold sweat.
Just then, a Verdant Reign member rushed in. His shout broke the dead silence. “He’s here. The big shot has arrived! Mr. Davidson, should we bring him in?”
The big shot came from another state, coming over to strike a deal with the Verdant Reign. Frank had taken over the entire second floor of The Oceanfront and presented a grand banquet. It clearly showed how much he respected the other party.
Frank stood up abruptly. “Invite him immediately!”
Frank thought, ‘Once I sealed the deal with the big shot, I could take Frostwave Bar and even crush the entire Morales underground forces.
Nova noticed Frank’s confident expression. He looked like he had already claimed victory. She thought, ‘Is it because of that big shot?’ She couldn’t help but wonder who it was.
“Wait. I’ll greet him myself.” Frank strode past Nova and her group, heading for the door to greet the big shot.
A commanding figure appeared in the second-floor hallway-posture erect, aura formidable.
One of the Verdant Reign men gasped, “It’s him.”

“You’ve finally come.” Frank stepped forward eagerly, clearly familiar and confident. The two had met before.
Frank treated the man with utmost respect, and deep down, he was dead sure he could land this partnership tonight.
For a moment, Nova sensed danger. Her instincts screamed warning. But looking closer, the man wasn’t the one who she had expected. She thought, keeping her guard up, ‘Looks like I overthought it.’
“Mr. Morrison…” Frank had only taken two steps forward when the imposing man, Brody Morrison, suddenly lowered his head.
Wearing a fawning grin, Brody respectfully stepped aside and made way to two figures behind him.
The first man was tall and striking, standing right around six feet two inches. He wore a black mask, hiding his stunning

appearance. His suit hinted at razor-sharp muscle lines bencath.
There was something about him-powerful, mysterious, and dangerous.
Nova snapped to full alert. She thought, ‘It’s him. My intuition is right.
She gazed Damien with a cold, wary look, her eyes carrying an undercurrent of hostility. The situation had taken a dangerous turn with Damien’s appearance.
Aiden followed closely behind, his blond hair tousled, features sharp, his gaze locking onto Nova instantly. He was surprised, thinking, ‘She’s the fierce girl who kicked Damien out of the tent not long ago.
Seeing Brody show such deference to Damien and Aiden, Frank was stunned. As a smooth operator, he immediately rushed over with a groveling grin. He asked Brody, “Mr. Morrison, you know him?”
“This is a big shot from Shadow Sanctum.” Brody introduced Damien to Frank, keeping his head down.
Frank’s heart sank, his face turning pale instantly. “What?”
The reason why Frank desperately wanted to partner with Brody was precisely because the partnership was significant. With it, Frank could wipe out Nova and her Frostwave Bar crew.
If he wanted, he could even steamroll every other underworld force in Morales.
Brody stood a strong chance of joining Shadow Sanctum. Even as one of its’tens of thousands of members, that alone would make him a fearsome ally in Morales’ underworld.
Frank couldn’t help thinking, ‘Brody stands a chance of joining Shadow Sanctum, but the two men, right there in front of me, are already with Shadow Sanctum
Frank’s face went red, and he rushed to ingratiate himself with Damien. “H-Hello, sir. I’m Frank Davidson, the head of Verdant Reign.
“Brody and I hope to discuss a small venture with you. Since he is about to become a Shadow Sanctum member, that makes us partners, right?”
His earlier arrogance vanished in an instant.
Assuming Damien was on his side and didn’t know Nova, Frank pointed at her and raised his voice. “But someone’s trying to ruin our plans. It’s her.
“Sir, please support us. This bitch barged into our negotiation, asking for trouble. Let’s just take her dut. Or kill her lackeys and keep her for… entertainment? “Sir, she’s quite pretty. You can have her first.”
Shadow Sanctum was an organization which was powerful enough to rival the Bloodblade Mercenary Corps, far more fearsome than Crimson Web. Frank couldn’t hide his eagerness to join it.
Victor’s face turned ashen. He thought, ‘Shadow Sanctum… We’re finished.
Nova, however, showed no fear. She had long been prepared to face Damien.
Just then, a blade flashed faster than the eye could follow.
Only Nova saw it clearly-Damien’s hidden blade swept out, cutting straight through the index finger Frank had pointed at her and even shaving the skin off his other fingers, exposing bloody flesh beneath.
Damien’s low, icy voice cut through the air, filled with undeniable possessiveness. “She’s mine. Anyone who lays a finger on
