“I should let you rest, he said, his voice low and rough as he barely held back. “You’ve been through so much. You need-
“Don’t.”
The word escaped her lips before she could stop it, raw and desperate and filled with a longing she couldn’t name. She didn’t understand it-this pull toward him, this aching need that had settled deep in her bones.
Something inside her reached for him.
Caleb’s eyes widened.
“Don’t what?”

Iva swallowed hard, her hands trembling at her sides from her new found courage,
“Don’t leave. Not yet.”
He studied her face, his dark eyes searching for any sign of hesitation, any hint that she might regret this in the morning. But all he saw was desire-raw, desperate, consuming desire that mirrored his own.
“Iva,” he breathed. “Are you sure?”
She nodded, her throat too tight to speak.
Caleb stepped closer.
His hand rose slowly, giving her time to pull away, to change her mind. But she didn’t. She stood perfectly still as his fingers brushed against her cheek, his touch feather-light, reverent.
Caleb’s thumb traced the curve of her cheekbone, wiping away a tear she hadn’t realized had fallen.
He leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.
The kiss was gentle at first-soft and tender, a question more than a demand. But the moment their mouths met something inside Iva ignited. The heat that had been building in her core since the moment he walked into her room flared to life, consuming her, driving her mad with need.
She kissed him back with a desperation that surprised even herself.
Her hands fisted in his shirt, pulling him closer, and he groaned against her lips as his arms wrapped around her waist. He lifted her effortlessly, her legs wrapping around his hips, as he pulled her closer to
him.
He laid her down on the soft linens, his body covering hers, his weight pressing her into the mattress.
“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured against her neck. “So perfect.”
Iva arched beneath him, her fingers tangling in his hair.
“Show me,” she breathed, while blushing at the same time.

He undressed her slowly, reverently, pressing kisses to every inch of skin as it was revealed. His lips traced a path from her neck to her collarbone to the swell of her breasts, and she gasped, her back arching off
the bed.
“You’re trembling,” he murmured.
“I’m nervous,” she admitted. “I’ve never… I’ve never been with anyone before.”
Caleb’s eyes softened, as he smiled, while his mind recalled all the times they make love in a different timeline.
“We don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for,” he said gently. “We can stop. We can wait. There’s no rush, Iva. We have all the time in the world.”
“No.” Her voice was fierce. “I … want this.”
Something in his expression shifted-relief, joy, and a love so fierce it stole her breath.
“Then I’ll be gentle,” he promised. “I’ll take care of you. I’ll always take care of you.”
He undressed himself slowly, his eyes never leaving hers. When he was finally bare before her, Iva’s breath caught.
He was beautiful-all hard muscle and sculpted lines, his body a testament to his power. Scars traced across his skin like silver rivers, and she reached out to touch one, her fingers tracing its path.
Caleb groaned, his control fraying, as he kissed her with desperation, caressing her entire body.
After a while, once he felt that he can’t hold back anymore, he positioned himself between her legs, the heat of him pressing against her entrance. She could feel the size of him, the weight of him, and a flicker of nervousness and panic crossed her face.
“Look at me,” he commanded softly.
She did.
“I will never hurt you,” he said. “I will never cause you pain. This will be intense, but I will be gentle. I promise you, Iva. I will always be gentle with you.”
She nodded, her heart pounding.
He pushed into her.
Iva gasped, her nails digging into his shoulders. The sensation was overwhelming-a burning stretch that bordered on unbearable. She felt tears prick at her eyes, but she didn’t ask him to stop.
Caleb paused, his body trembling with the effort of restraint.
“Breathe,” he commanded softly. “Breathe, little one. I have you. I’m right here.”
She obeyed, inhaling deeply, letting her body adjust to his size.
He waited, patient despite the obvious strain, kissing her cheeks, her nose, her eyelids, murmuring soft

words of encouragement.
“Almost there,” he whispered. “You’re taking me so well. So perfect. My perfect little mate.”

And despite everything, the feelings, the sensations, the instincts, the desire, she relaxed around him, her body accepting him fully.
Then he began to move.
Slowly at first, each thrust deliberate and deep. He watched her face, reading her expressions, adjusting his rhythm to her responses. When she moaned, he sped up. When she gasped, he went deeper.
The pain faded, replaced by a pleasure that built slowly and steadily until she was trembling with anticipation.
“More,” she begged. “Please, more.”
He gave her more.
His pace quickened, his thrusts growing harder, deeper, more desperate. The bed groaned beneath them, the headboard slamming against the wall. Their bodies moved together in a primal rhythm, ancient and perfect.
The heat inside her built, coiling in her belly like a living thing. She could feel herself approaching the edge, feel the release building, threatening to consume her.
“Caleb-” she cried.
“Let go,” he growled. “I have you. Let go, Iva.”
She shattered.
Her orgasm crashed through her like a tidal wave, white-hot and blinding. Her body convulsed around him, and he followed her over the edge, a guttural roar torn from his lips as he spilled himself inside her.
They collapsed together, tangled and panting.
But Caleb wasn’t finished, to her shock and surprise.
