The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 147

Set Up-1

The moment the butter’s body hit the marble floor, the entire room erupted into chaos.

Gasps.

Shouts.

Chairs scraping harshly against the floor.

Servants rushed forward in panic while others froze in place, unsure whether to move or not, their eyes wide with fear as the reality of what had just happened settled over everyone like a suffocating weight.

The royal table-

Once a place of elegance and control-

Had turned into a battlefield of confusion and rising dread.

Caleb stood abruptly, his chair sliding back with a sharp sound, his presence immediately cutting through the noise like a blade.

“Enough!”

His voice thundered across the hall, commanding, absolute, leaving no room for hesitation.

And instantly-

Silence followed:

Not complete-

But controlled.

Contained.

The guards snapped into action, their training taking over as they spread across the room, hands on weapons, eyes scanning every corner, every face.

Caleb’s gaze swept the scene once, sharp and calculating, before he began issuing orders with rapid precision.

“Lock the castle,” he barked, his tone leaving no space for argument. “No one enters or leaves without my direct approval.”

“Yes, Your Highness!” came the immediate response.

“And take him to the medical wing,” Caleb added, gesturing toward the collapsed butler, his voice still firm but edged with urgency. “Now.”

Two guards moved instantly, lifting the unconscious man carefully as a healer was already being summoned.

Then-

Calcb turned.

Slowly.

Claim

Toward Sonia.

She stood frozen near the table, her earlier confidence completely shattered, her face pale, her eyes wide as she struggled to process what had just unfolded.

“I… I didn’t do anything…” she stammered, her voice trembling despite her attempt to steady it. “What is happening…?”

For a brief second-

Anyone else might have believed her.

But Caleb-

He saw everything.

The shock.

Yes.

But also-

The flicker of something else.

Fear.

Not of being accused-

But of being exposed.

Caleb inclined his head slightly, his expression composed, almost apologetic.

“Forgive me, Sonia,” he said, his tone calm, measured, controlled. “But we must follow protocol in situations like this.”

He raised his hand slightly.

Two guards stepped forward immediately,

That was enough to ignite the room again.

Two councilmen rose abruptly from their seats, their expressions tense, voices sharp with indignation.

“Your Highness!” one of them spoke, stepping forward. “You cannot accuse your own mate of such a heinous crime!”

Murmurs followed.

Agreement.

Tension rising once more.

But Caleb didn’t even look at them at first.

Instead-

He let the silence stretch.

Then-

He turned his head slightly, his gaze landing on them with cold precision.

“Who said I am accusing her?” he asked calmly.

The question hit like a slap.

The councilmen faltered for a moment.

“But… the guards-” one of them tried to argue.

Caleb cut him off instantly, his tone turning sharp.

“Restrain yourself.”

The authority in his voice snapped through the room like a whip.

“Do not pass judgment before facts are established.”

The councilmen fell silent.

Because this-

This was not a prince speaking.

This was a ruler.
