Long Overdue Discussion I-1
The intensity began to fade.
Slowly. Like mist burning away under a morning sun. The electric charge that had crackled between them moments ago settled into something quieter, something heavier. The storm had passed, but the air was still thick with what remained.
They stood facing each other near Iva’s bed. The wooden floor was cold beneath her bare feet.
The waves of pleasure that had clouded her mind began to clear.
And reality hit Iva like a high-speed train.
She shivered.
Her entire body trembled with it-a violent, uncontrollable shake that started in her chest and radiated outward. The fog of the bond, the haze of his presence, the overwhelming intensity of his dominance-it all fell away at once, leaving her raw and exposed and terribly, terribly aware.
Caleb was here.
In her room.
He had found her anyway.
And now he stood before her, calm and silent, … waiting,
Iva’s heart hammered against her ribs. Her breath came in short, shallow gasps. She could feel him-not just with her senses, but with something deeper. Something primal. The bond hummed between them, a living thing that connected her soul to his.
But beneath his apparent calm, she could feel it.
His power.
It radiated from him like heat from a furnace. Contained. Controlled. But there. Always there. And beneath the power, lurking just below the surface, she could feel his lycan\beast.
Massive. Ancient. Hungry.
It watched her through his eyes.
She looked up at him without meaning to. Her gaze caught his, held there, trapped. His eyes were steady, unreadable, fixed on her with an intensity that made her stomach drop.
She froze.
Every muscle in her body locked tight. She wanted to look away-needed to look away-but she couldn’t. His gaze held her captive, and for a moment, she forgot how to breathe.

her, knuckles white, nails pressing into her own skin.
The reality was bigger than life.
Caleb was here.
In her room.

Iva screamed inside her own head. When she had woken up this morning, this was the last thing she had expected. She had planned to attend the opening ceremony and prepare for her clases.
Instead, she was standing two feet away from the most powerful creature she had ever met, waiting for the axe to fall.
Her body grew tense. Every muscle coiled tight, ready to flee, even though she knew there was nowhere to run. The running away had caught up with her. She could feel it in the air between them, in the weight of his silence, in the way he hadn’t touched her again.
It was time for a talk.
A real talk.
The kind she had been avoiding since the moment she slipped out of his penthouse and ran into the dark.
Caleb broke the silence.
His voice was quiet. Measured. But there was something beneath it-something that made her skin prickle with awareness.
“Care to explain why you took off the way you did?” he asked directly, without any introduction.
Iva’s throat constricted.
“You ran away, Iva.”
The words hung in the air between them. Simple. True. Damning.
She couldn’t deny it. Couldn’t make excuses. Couldn’t hide behind pretty words or half-truths. She had run.
“I-” Her voice cracked. She stopped. Swallowed, and decided to come clean. A long discussion was long overdue between them.
