The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 225

Fated Pair 1-3

The shift in Attia’s expression was subtle-a widening of his eyes, a slight parting of his lips-but Iva caught it. The headmaster’s composure, so carefully maintained, cracked for just a moment.

“Fated mates,” Attia repeated slowly.

“Yes.” Caleb’s voice was steady. “The Goddess blessed us. And the new Messenger was revealed.”

Silence fell over the room.

Attia stared at them for a long, breathless moment. Then his face transformed.

A smile-wide and genuine and startlingly warm-spread across his features. The cold mask that he wore like armor fell away, and beneath it was something Iva had never expected to see.

Joy.

“This is fantastic news,” Attia said, his voice thick with emotion. “For our kind.”

He leaned forward, his forearms resting on his desk.

“As you know, the numbers of offspring have decreased dramatically in the last years. For chosen mates, they cannot have more than one pup. Only the fated ones are blessed with as many as they want.” His jaw tightened. “And the conflicts. The wars. The losses we have suffered.” He shook his head slowly. “The situation has become dire in some packs. Dire enough that I have wondered… if we would survive another generation with the declining numbers.”

Caleb nodded. “We have felt the same. The relief that the Messenger has appeared-it cannot be

overstated.”

“Then you have my full attention.” Attia’s eyes were bright, focused. “What do you need from me? How can I support this?”

Caleb exchanged another glance with Iva.

“Here is where we need your help,” Caleb said carefully. “In the past, the Messenger usually settled in a single pack. We all know that the matching was done primarily for that pack and its allies. The politics of it… the favoritism… it created imbalance.”

Attia nodded slowly. “I am familiar with the history. Some packs flourished while others withered, simply because they had the Messenger’s favor.”

“Exactly.” Caleb leaned forward. “But the new Messenger has a different approach.”

Attia’s eyebrows rose. “Different how?”

“Firstly, she wants to keep her identity a secret. At least for the time being. Only a few within the royal family-myself and Iva included-are aware of who she is.”

Attia’s expression flickered with intrigue. “A secret Messenger. Unprecedented.”

“Secondly-and this is the heart of the matter-she does not want to practice the past tradition of settling

in-a single pack. She does not want that type of politics.” Caleb’s voice grew more passionate as he spoke. She wants to match fated mates irrespective of pack affiliation, power or size. As long as it is within her power, she will help as many as she can.”

Attia was silent, his dark eyes fixed on Caleb’s face.

“She has decided to begin with the study academies,” Caleb continued. “Starting with this one. She will observe the students, and identify the fated bonds that exist among them. Later, in addition, we will organize different events for her to expand her reach. But this is the starting point.”

Attia leaned back in his chair.

“This is unexpected,” he said slowly. “Bold. Daring.” He paused, his brow furrowing. “Definitely, some of the top alphas who were waiting for the Messenger’s appearance will not be pleased. It has become… a well-known tradition… to try to secure the Messenger in your pack for more power.”

Caleb nodded. “I know. But the Messenger’s will-and the Goddess’s will-is clear. She will not be used as a political tool.”

Attia was quiet for a long moment. Then he nodded.

“I respect that,” he said. “More than you know.”

Caleb’s shoulders relaxed slightly. “As she will start with this academy, and she wants to keep her identity a secret-and I cannot be here all the time-Iva will take over the task of communication. Each week, she will give you a list of fated mates that she receives from the Messenger. The rest… we will leave to you. To notify the concerned students and their Alphas.”

Attia placed his hand over his heart-a gesture of solemn promise.

“You can count on my full support,” he said. “I am thrilled that she decided to start with this academy. With the declining numbers we have faced… this is a blessing. A true blessing.” His voice dropped, thick with feeling. “Finally, the Goddess has smiled upon us.”

Caleb inclined his head. “Thank you.”

The headmaster’s expression softened. “Thank you. For trusting me with this.”

Caleb shifted in his seat. His grip on Iva’s hand tightened.

“There is something else,” he said.

Attia waited, his dark eyes patient.

“The Messenger has already identified the first fated pair in the academy,” Caleb said.

Attia’s smile returned-warm and eager. “This is great news. Especially as the news will reach their packs. The announcement alone will bring hope to so many.” He leaned forward. “Who are the lucky ones?”

Iva’s heart stopped.

Caleb looked at her.

And then he looked at Attia.
