“But-
“No buts.” Iva pulled out her phone. “Do you want him? This is the question. Do you want Attia?”
Lori’s throat tightened.
“Yes.” The word came out as a whisper. “Yes, I want him. I told you. I fell for him.”
Iva nodded.
“Then leave it to him to decide.”
She started typing.
Lori’s eyes widened in panic. “What are you doing?”

Across the campus, Attia lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling.
He had been unable to sleep for hours. His body was restless, his mind churning with thoughts he couldn’t silence. His wolf paced inside him, agitated and demanding.
“Let’s go see our mate,” Athos growled. “Something is wrong. I can feel it.”
“We said we would take it slow,” Attia replied, though the words tasted hollow even to him.
“You are a fool.”
Attia closed his eyes.

“I hate slow.”
Attia’s phone pinged.
He ignored it.
It pinged again.
He reached for it, annoyed, ready to silence whoever was disturbing his restless night.

Attia’s blood ran cold.
His heart stopped.
