Ambush 2
Silviu stepped closer, reaching out to touch her face. She flinched away, but he was faster, his fingers gripping her chin and forcing her to meet his eyes.
“Oh, I think I will,” he said softly. “Because once I’m done with you, you won’t want to tell anyone. You’ll be too ashamed. Too broken, Too… mine. My little plaything.”
Silviu’s hand froze mid-air, inches from Iva’s face.
A voice had cut through the silence of the library-low, cold, and dripping with barely contained fury. It came from the shadows between the towering bookshelves, and it made Silviu’s blood run cold.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
Silviu spun around, his eyes wide with shock. They supposed to be alone… he made sure of it!
Caleb stepped out from between the racks, his eyes blazing with a fury that made the temperature in the room drop. His hands were clenched at his sides, his jaw was tight, and his entire body radiated a dangerous, predatory calm.
He had been there the whole time.
Silviu’s face contorted with disbelief. “What-how-”
Iva laughed-a bright, triumphant sound that echoed through the library. She wiped the last tear from her cheek and rushed to Caleb’s side, her hand finding his, her fingers intertwining with his.
“Surprise,” she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
Silviu stared at them, his mind struggling to catch up. “You planned this?” he demanded, his voice trembling with rage and confusion. “You set me up?”
Iva’s smile was cold.
“You’re not the only one who can plan scripts, Silviu. Did you really think I would be stupid enough to wander into a library alone at midnight? Did you really believe I would let my guard down that easily?”
Silviu’s face went pale.
“But-the guards-your fear-”
“All part of the act,” Iva said smoothly. “We knew you were watching. We knew you were waiting for a moment of weakness. So we gave you one.”
Caleb’s grip on Iva’s hand tightened. “We’ve been tracking you for weeks,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “Every move you made, every message you sent, every rose you left. We knew it was only a matter of time before you made a mistake.”
Silviu’s eyes darted between them, calculating, desperate.
“This is impossible,” he said, his voice cracking. “I covered my tracks. I was careful. No one could have-”

“Your family’s resources are impressive,” Caleb interrupted. “But not impressive enough. We found your connections. Your payments. Your digital footprint.” His smile was thin and cold. “You left a trail, Silviu. A very obvious trail.”
Silviu’s hands curled into fists. “You can’t prove anything. I haven’t done anything illegal. The roses, the letters-they’re just harmless gestures.”
Iva laughed again-a sharp, bitter sound. “Harmless? You threatened me. You watched me sleep. You terrorized me for months. And tonight, you tried to trap me alone in a locked room.”
She stepped forward, her eyes blazing.
“But you forgot one thing, Silviu.”
Silviu’s voice trembled. “What?”
Iva’s smile was wicked.
“I had to get it on record.”
Silviu’s face drained of all color.
“What?” he breathed.
Caleb pulled a small device from his pocket-a sleek, black recorder. His thumb pressed a button, and Silviu’s voice filled the library.
*”I’ve waited for you to be alone, to let your guard down. And now… here you are. Finally. Completely. Alone.”*
Silviu’s eyes went wide with horror.
“You-you recorded me?”
“Every word,” Iva confirmed. “Your confession. Your threats. Your obsession. It’s all there.”
The reality of his situation crashed down on Silviu like a wave. His carefully constructed world crumbled before his eyes. His freedom. His reputation. His future.
And his face twisted with rage.
“You-” he snarled, his eyes wild with fury. “YOU BITCH!”
す
He launched at Iva with a snarl, his claws extending, his body shifting toward his wolf form.
But Caleb was faster.
He stepped in front of Iva, his own body shifting with a speed that Silviu couldn’t match. His hand shot out, grabbing Silviu’s throat and slamming him against the nearest bookshelf. Books tumbled to the ground, pages scattering across the floor.
“You made a mistake, Silviu,” Caleb hissed, his voice barely human. “You threatened my mate. You terrorized her. You tried to take what is mine.”
Silviu choked, his hands clawing uselessly at Caleb’s grip. “You can’t-you can’t do this-I have rights-my family will-”

Your family. Caleb said coldly, “will be lucky if I don’t burn their entire pack to the ground.”

He dragged Silviu across the library floor, his grip unrelenting. Silviu thrashed, kicked, tried to shift fully, but Caleb was stronger, faster, more determined.
“Guards!” Caleb shouted, his voice echoing through the building.
The doors burst open.
Royal guards swarmed into the library, their faces grim, their weapons drawn. They surrounded Silviu, their hands gripping his arms, pinning him in place.
Silviu’s eyes darted around the room, looking for an escape.
There was none.
“Take him to the dungeon,” Caleb commanded. “And send word to my father. I want every single piece of evidence cataloged. Every message. Every letter. Every rose. This case will be airtight.”
The guards nodded and dragged Silviu away.
His screams echoed through the library as they pulled him through the doors.
“I’ll get you for this!” he shrieked. “You think this is over? You think you’ve won? My family will destroy you! They’ll-”
His words were cut off as the doors slammed shut.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Iva stood in the middle of the library, her body trembling, her heart pounding. The adrenaline that had carried her through the past hour was fading, leaving behind a wave of exhaustion and relief.
Caleb crossed the room and pulled her into his arms.
“It’s over,” he said softly. “It’s finally over.”
Iva pressed her face into his chest, her tears soaking through his shirt.
