Bloodfang’s Heirs 2

“Full control?”

Meriem nodded slowly.

Claim

“The assets-the land, the investments, the businesses-all of them are in my name. A technicality, really. My grandfather was old-fashioned. He believed that his niece should have some measure of independence, some security in case anything happened to the Alpha. He put everything in my name before he passed away and as the year passed, my father didn’t change the paperwork in his name as an Alpha.”

She let out a bitter laugh.

“An expensive technicality which Calin discovered it after the accident. Calin has been trying to get me to sign over control for years. He’s used every method he can think of-threats, torture, manipulation. He’s tried to break me, to wear me down, to make me desperate enough to give him what he wants.”

She looked at them, her eyes fierce and defiant despite the tears.

“But I never yielded. Because I knew that the moment I signed those papers, I would be dead.

He would have no reason to keep me alive.”

Lori pulled her into a tight embrace.

“I’m so sorry,” she whispered. “I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that.”

Meriem clung to her, sobbing softly.

Attia rose from his chair and walked to the window, staring out at the darkening fields.
