The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 325

“An alliance? With whom?”

“I don’t know the details,” Meriem admitted. “But I know it’s imminent. His patience has run out. If I don’t sign over the assets soon, he’ll find another way to consolidate his power. And once he does, he won’t need me alive anymore.”

The room fell silent.

Lori’s face was pale. “So he’s going to kill you.”

Meriem nodded, her expression resigned.

“Eventually. But first, he needs to make sure I can’t cause any trouble. He needs to make sure I’m silenced. Permanently.”

Attia’s voice was cold and steady.

“Then we make sure that doesn’t happen.”

Meriem looked at him, a flicker of unease in her tired eyes.

“You would risk everything-your safety, your home, your peace-for a stranger?”

Attia met her gaze.

“You’re not a stranger anymore,” he said. “You’re someone who needs help. And I don’t turn my back on people who need help.”

The farmhouse was quiet, save for the soft crackle of the fire and the distant hoot of an owl. Meriem had finally fallen into a deep, exhausted sleep, her body curled beneath the blanket, her face peaceful for the first time since she had collapsed in their fields.
