Gone-1

The moment stretched-thin as a blade.

Iva turned, already stepping back, apology forming on her lips, instinct screaming leave, now-

-but she never got the chance.

A hand tangled brutally in her hair.

Pain exploded across her scalp as she gasped, the breath ripped from her lungs while she was yanked backward with merciless strength. Her feet stumbled, heart slamming wildly as she was dragged forward like prey caught in a snare.

“Well, well,” a voice purred above her, sweet and poisonous all at once. “Looks like I caught myself a little

rat.”

Laughter followed. Sharp. Cruel.

Iva’s fingers clawed uselessly at the wrist in her hair, tears stinging her eyes as she was hauled toward the table, her cap falling to the floor. The woman holding her was tall-very tall-even by Lycan standards. Blonde hair fell in glossy waves down her back, flawless and shining like spun gold. Her face was devastatingly beautiful: high cheekbones, full lips painted in a mocking smirk, eyes a glacial blue that held nothing but disdain.

“So bold,” the Lycan girl continued, tightening her grip. “Sneaking around where you don’t belong. Do werewolves really think they can crawl anywhere now? Or are you just lost, little thing?”

The contrast was horrifying-such beauty housing such ugliness.

“I-I’m sorry,” Iva forced out, voice shaking. “I didn’t mean-please, I was leaving-”

“Oh, shut up,” the blonde snapped, giving her hair a sharp yank that made white-hot pain explode again.” You don’t speak unless spoken to.”

Humiliation burned hotter than fear.

She dragged Iva the final steps and shoved her forward roughly. Plates rattled. Chairs scraped. Every Lycan at the table had gone quiet now, eyes locked on the scene with varying shades of interest, boredom, and something darker.

“I caught a rat,” the blonde announced mockingly. “Thought it might be amusing to see how long it squeals.”

Then-

A voice cut through the air.

Low. Cold. Commanding.

“Enough, Serena.”

The effect was instant.

The blonde froze mid-smirk, her entire posture stiffening as if a switch had been flipped. Her hand Tuosened in Iva’s hair, though she didn’t release her entirely.

“Stop it,” the voice continued, sharp with restrained irritation. “I am not in the mood for your bullshit today.”

Silence fell like a guillotine.

Serena’s face tightened, jaw clenching, but she stepped back immediately, dropping Iva with a shove that nearly sent her to the floor.

“Tch,” she muttered, folding her arms. “As you wish.”

Iva staggered, barely keeping herself upright, heart racing violently. Panic clawed at her chest-fear, confusion, disbelief colliding all at once.

Then the voice spoke again.

“Look at me.”

It wasn’t loud.

It didn’t need to be.

Her body reacted before her mind did, chin lifting slowly, reluctantly, as if pulled by an invisible force.

And then she saw him.

The world narrowed.

He stood at the head of the table, tall-impossibly tall his presence dominating the space without effort. Dark hair brushed his shoulders, thick and slightly disheveled, as if he never bothered taming it. His face was carved with ruthless precision: sharp jaw, high cheekbones, a straight nose that had likely been broken and healed more than once.

But it was his eyes that destroyed her,

Deep. Dark. Almost black.
