The Message-T

The door of the restroom cubicle felt too thin.

Too exposed.

Iva pressed her palm against the cold metal divider, trying to steady her breathing as another violent cramp twisted low in her abdomen. It felt like claws dragging through her insides.

Her vision blurred.

Her body shivered.

And then the heat came again.

Not warmth.

Not even fever.

It was a violent surge that rolled through her bloodstream like molten lava, crawling under her skin, pooling in her stomach, her thighs, her chest.

Her fingers trembled.

“No… no, no…” she whispered hoarsely.

Inside her mind, Avalon paced.

The wolf was restless. Agitated. Her presence filled Iva’s head like a storm pressing against the edges of a

cage.

Another wave slammed into her.

Iva gasped, gripping the sides of the toilet as her body trembled.

“Avalon-what is happening to me?” she whispered frantically.

The wolf’s voice came low and tense.

“You already know.”

Another cramp stabbed through her.

Her breath hitched.

“I thought it was my period-”

“It is not.”

The words were sharp.

Heavy.

Final.

Silence stretched for half a heartbeat before Avalon said the words that froze the blood in Iva’s veins.

We are going into heat.

Iva’s heart stopped.

Her stomach dropped so violently she felt dizzy.

“No…” she whispered.

Her voice shook.

“No, that’s not possible.”

Avalon did not answer immediately.

But the wolf’s presence felt… uneasy.

“It is happening.”

Iva squeezed her eyes shut as another wave of heat rushed through her body. It made her skin feel too tight, her nerves hypersensitive.

Her thighs trembled.

“Why now?” she asked desperately. “Why is this happening now?!”

Avalon’s answer came slowly.

“Because of our mate.”

Iva shook her head violently.

Her mind scrambled through memories.

Nick.

The time spent beside him.

“But with Nick it didn’t happen,” she whispered frantically.

Avalon’s voice softened–but the truth in it was merciless.

“This bond is stronger.”

The wolf shifted within her.

Restless.

Hungry.

“And the proximity we shared with him these past two nights… it triggered the cycle.”

Iva felt the blood drain from her face.

Her mind replayed every moment.

< The Messaget-

Calcb’s scent surrounding her.

Sleeping under his roof.

Her stomach twisted again.

“What are we going to do?” she asked, panic rising in her chest.

She couldn’t stay here.

She couldn’t go out there.

If she stepped into the restaurant like this-

Her scent.

Every unmated wolf within range would smell her.

Heat scent.

Raw.

Irresistible.

Dangerous.

The thought made cold dread crawl down her spine.

Her hands trembled.

“I can’t stay in this bathroom all day,” she whispered.

Avalon didn’t argue.

“No.”

Another wave of heat rippled through her.

Her back arched involuntarily as a sharp ache pulsed low in her belly.

Her breathing became uneven.

Her mind raced.

Think.

Think.

Think.

But the pain and heat kept breaking her concentration.

Then-

The restroom door opened.
