The Mighty Mage novel Chapter 143

Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Dark Beasts

Breathing heavily, Gu Jin paused to catch her breath.

In fact, she was surprised by the result.

She didn’t even use her fire element and plant element during the entire process. With just the Dark Fire element she was able to defeat all the dark beasts.

And the amazing part was to defeat a Soul Class beast, a person should be at intermediate rank, while her Dark Fire Element was only at primary rank!

The space within her mind spoke up, "Master, well done. But more are coming. This forest is teeming with dark beasts. You need to reach the Dark Solar Vein quickly."

Gu Jin nodded, her eyes scanning the forest for any signs of movement. "Which direction?"

"Straight ahead. Not far now."

She sprinted through the forest, her senses heightened.

The oppressive atmosphere seemed to close in around her, but she pressed on.

Suddenly the space said,

"Master be careful, that strange beast from earlier is approaching from the right."

Gu Jin veered to the left, avoiding the direct path of the beast. She could hear its growls getting louder, a constant reminder of the danger she faced. Her mind raced, strategizing her next moves.

"Just keep moving," she told herself. "Almost there."

She pushed forward, her steps quick and light.

The forest seemed to become denser, the trees closing in around her. But the pull of the Dark Solar Vein was stronger now, guiding her with an almost magnetic force.

Gu Jin’s thoughts were interrupted by a rustling sound behind her. She turned her head slightly and saw the strange beast from earlier, now much closer.

It was massive, its dark fur blending with the shadows, its eyes glowing with an eerie light.

"I was wondering how greedy humans could disappear and not eye the treasure." The beast said.

The beast had the head of a fox, with two black wings, and the body of a leopard, glowing with a dark aura.

Its eyes were filled with a cold intelligence, and its voice had an almost mocking tone.

Gu Jin stopped.

"I am just curious." She said in a nonchalant tone.

In her mind though she was thinking about what was the name of the beast.

When she returned to her space, she searched for the beast in front of her. However, even after looking through many books, she didn’t find it.

If only she knew his name then she could easily read about its weak points!

Without warning, the beast lunged at her, its claws glowing with dark energy.

Gu Jin barely managed to dodge, rolling to the side and coming up with her hands glowing with dark fire.

"Fire Fist!" she shouted, sending a blazing punch of dark fire toward the beast.

The flames struck the creature, but it barely flinched, the dark energy surrounding it absorbing much of the impact.

The beast snarled and retaliated with a swipe of its claw, sending a wave of dark energy toward Gu Jin.

She raised a barrier of dark fire to shield herself, but the force of the attack pushed her back, making her stumble.

The beast suddenly growled and asked with malice, surprise, and interest in his eyes,

"You have awakened a dark fire element? How?"

Gu Jin didn’t answer him and cast another spell,

"Plant Spikes."

The beast didn’t even bother to look at the spikes, with a wave of dark energy, the pointed spikes instantly dried.

"Human, I am asking something how could you have awakened a dark fire element?" The beast asked in a dangerous tone.

In his heart, he was planning to kill Gu Jin completely.

The dark Fire element was a curse for the dark beasts. Though it is related to dark elements, the dark beast can’t handle it at all.

Normal fire could hardly harm the dark beast, but the Dark Fire element was different.

Since it is a combination of fire and dark elements, it has the power to strengthen the fire in such a way, that even dark beasts like them are affected.

After White Fire, the most dangerous element is Dark Fire.

Hence it was the duty of each dark beast to kill such awakened people.

Even if he dies today, he will take Gu Jin with him!

"You’re stronger than I expected," the beast said, circling her slowly.

"But you’re still no match for me."

The vines around the beast burst into flames, wrapping it in a fiery prison.

The beast howled in pain, thrashing against the fiery vines. Gu Jin gritted her teeth, holding the spell as long as she could. She couldn’t let go now.

But the beast was strong. With a final, furious roar, it shattered the fiery vines and lunged at her again. Gu Jin barely had time to react, raising her hands to shield herself.

The beast’s claws raked across her arms, but she managed to hold on.

Gu Jin used her plant element to create a plant barrier around her.

The beast snarled and struck the barrier, but it held firm.

"You’re persistent," the beast growled, glaring at her. "But it’s time to end this."

Gu Jin closed her eyes, remembered all the details, and finally realized that the dark beast was very much affected by the dark element.

Hence without delay, Gu Jin decided to use her Dark Fire Element more.

"I don’t plan to leave you alive today. You have dark fire element after all." The dark beast said with hate in his voice.

Gu Jin chuckled with no mirth and said,

"What a coincidence, I too don’t plan to leave you alive today. You know about the existence of the dark fire element after all."

Boom.

Once Gu Jin finished her words she channeled her Dark Fire Element’s energy onto the tip of her finger.

In the past 2 years, she had experimented with ways to control the element energy and had created a few spells of her own.

The energy condensed in Gu Jin’s hand.

She formed it into the shape of a knife and waited for the dark beast to break the barrier.

At the same time, she acted as if she was seriously injured and made a ’hisss’ voice.

It was to assure the dark beast that she was in a weak state and that if it was able to break the barrier, it could win.

However, she also stored up a backup move.

The beast’s anticipation of victory grew as it watched Gu Jin seemingly struggle within her barrier.

The dark energy crackled around the creature, its eyes glowing with malevolent triumph.

Gu Jin’s moans of pain fueled its confidence, and with a final, powerful strike, it shattered her plant barrier, sending shards of energy and debris flying.
