The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 29

Chapter 29: The Queen’s Trap

No, actually, Primrose had stolen his bedroom key.

It wasn’t even that hard.

Unlike the Queen’s chamber, Edmund’s room wasn’t guarded by soldiers because who in their right mind would dare sneak into the Beast King’s chambers and risk disturbing his sleep?

Even when Edmund wasn’t there, only the maids assigned to clean his room had the courage to enter. The rest of the palace staff would rather take a longer route than walk past his bedroom door.

But why?

Primrose hadn’t felt anything unusual when she snuck into Edmund’s room in broad daylight and took his key.

"Your Majesty, are you sure you don’t want to visit His Majesty’s chambers tonight?"

Leah’s eyes locked onto the golden key in Primrose’s hand, as if she were staring at her most precious prey.

[If I steal this key from her, I could sneak into His Majesty’s chambers.]

[Didn’t she say he’d be happy if I did?]

A slow smile curled at the corner of Leah’s lips. [Maybe ... if I serve His Majesty well in bed, I can become his concubine tomorrow.]

Her overconfidence was almost laughable.

Primrose didn’t even have to add more fuel to the fire because Leah was already walking straight into the trap.

"I don’t know ..." Primrose sighed heavily, her voice laced with uncertainty. "If I don’t go to his chambers, won’t he be angry? What if ... he hits me tomorrow?"

[I’d be shocked if His Majesty hasn’t hit you at least once.]

Why was she so certain? Did Primrose’s face look that punchable or what?

"How about this, Your Majesty—" Leah leaned in, whispering her secret plan into Primrose’s ear.

Primrose tried her best not to form a smile on her face. This two-faced fox actually thought she was encouraging her to seduce Edmund.

"You ... you’d really do that for me, Lady Leah?" Primrose widened her eyes, letting just the right amount of hope slip into her voice. She clutched Leah’s hands, hesitating before adding, "B-But His Majesty is really fierce. I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle him."

[Huh? If a weak human like her can survive a mating session with His Majesty, why wouldn’t I be able to?]

Primrose gritted her teeth to stop herself from rolling her eyes. Seriously, why did beasts insist on calling it a "mating session" instead of just making love?

"You don’t have to worry, Your Majesty." Leah gave her a reassuring smile, filled with sickening confidence. "My body is much stronger than yours."

Sure. But could your body handle Edmund’s real sword instead of the dull one?

"I owe you a great debt, Lady Leah." Primrose returned the smile, warm on the surface but ice-cold underneath.

Finally, she had struck the match.

When the clock struck eight, Primrose sat on her bed, her foot tapping restlessly against the floor.

Her bedroom was only twenty steps away from Edmund’s, but since his chambers were soundproof, she had no way of knowing what was happening inside.

For some reason, an uneasy feeling crawled up her spine.

What if Edmund actually liked it when Leah tried to seduce him? It wasn’t impossible, right? The thought made her stomach twist in irritation.

She kept glancing at the clock, watching the seconds tick by. Leah should’ve been inside his room by now. She had told her that Edmund wanted to see her exactly at eight.

Three minutes had passed.

BANG!
