The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 498

Chapter 498: A Mother Is Still Human (II)

"So that’s why... my wife, my love, my Primrose..."

Edmund’s eyes softened, and his voice slowly melted into something warm and tender, barely above a whisper. "...you can cry as much as you need to. If your heart hurts, or even if your body hurts... you don’t have to hold it in."

He lifted his hand and gently brushed her cheek with his thumb. "And just so you know... I will never make fun of you for crying. Not now. Not ever."

Edmund had always known Primrose was someone who cried easily. Even Lazarus used to tell him, half helpless, half fond, that his daughter truly cried far too much.

At first, he thought that perhaps Lazarus was exaggerating. But after marrying PrimrosPrimrose shook her head lightly. "No," she said. "You’ve never been angry with me because of that."

Instead, Edmund would either pull her close or simply sit beside her in silence, waiting patiently until she felt better.

Truthfully, Primrose rarely cried in front of others. Tears shed for appearances—little acts meant to soften hearts—didn’t count. The only people who ever saw her real tears were her father and her husband.

When it came to her father, she had always believed it was only natural. After all, she was his daughter, and even though she had grown into an adult, Lazarus would always see her as his little girl.

But what about her husband?

Even when they had not yet fully opened their hearts to each other, Primrose had never felt ashamed to cry in front of him, and those were not fake tears, but her real feelings.

There is a saying that when we are in a place where we feel truly safe, we can no longer hold back the emotions within our hearts, whether it is cheerfulness, anger, or even sadness.

Perhaps that is also the reason why people are more prone to hurting those closest to them. Yet at the same time, they can show their pain without fear of being laughed at or pushed away.

Primrose had loved Edmund from the very beginning, even before they resolved all the misunderstandings between them. All this time, she had wondered why she could be that foolish. But what if she was not foolish at all?

What if she and Edmund had met a long time ago? In a lifetime they no longer remembered, just like the lifetime in which Rose had met Zarius.

She wasn’t completely sure, but for now, it was the only explanation that made sense to her.

"It’s alright." Edmund took a deep breath before pulling her back into his embrace once again. "How about we cry for the night, and then feel better in the morning?"

Primrose clutched his shirt tightly and rested her head against his broad chest. "You’re not even going to cry," she whispered.

Edmund smiled faintly. "Maybe not with tears... but my heart can cry with you." He gently stroked her hair. "You’re the most precious person in my life. When something bad happens to you, it hurts me too."
