Edmund reached for her head, perhaps intending to pat it or simply brush her hair, but he stopped midway.
Primrose finally noticed that the Lycan King always hesitated whenever he wanted to touch her. Every time he reached out, he would pull his hand back at the last second, like he was afraid of crossing a line.
"Are you satisfied with that kiss?" Primrose asked shyly. She suddenly found the ground beneath her feet much more interesting than looking at his face.
Edmund hummed. "That was more than enough for me."
[No, that kiss wasn’t enough! But if I kiss her lips, what if she thinks I’m a pervert?]
Honestly, even without kissing her lips, Primrose already knew he was a pervert.
[Actually, I just don’t want to make her uncomfortable.]
[Our first night was an obligation, but after that ... I have to take things slow, or she’ll end up hating me.]
Primrose blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected Edmund to be so thoughtful. She had assumed he only cared about himself, but here he was, putting her feelings and comforts above everything else.
Didn’t his good behavior deserve a reward?
"Edmund..." Primrose bit her lower lip before whispering, "Can you lower your head for me?"
Without hesitation, he did as she asked, bending down so low that his face was level with hers. "What’s wro—"
His words were cut off when Primrose suddenly kissed him on the lips. It was just a light peck, barely lasting a few seconds, before she quickly pulled away.
Still, that short kiss was more than enough to send Edmund straight to cloud nine.
"Thank you for today." Primrose smiled, her lips curving into the sweetest, most heart-melting expression. "I really enjoyed our breakfast."
Before Edmund could even process what had just happened, she was already running down the stairs, not once looking back or saying goodbye.
Left alone on the rooftop, Edmund stood frozen, still bent over as if waiting for something more. Time passed, and he didn’t move, even as the cool morning breeze turned into the warm heat of the day.
Down below, the maids and guards exchanged glances, whispering among themselves. Why hadn’t the Lycan King come down yet?
In the end, they just shrugged. Maybe he liked the rooftop so much that he didn’t want to leave.
If only someone had checked on him, they would have witnessed the mighty Lycan King snapping out of his frozen state, only to start pounding the railing over and over again, trying to vent his frustration.
His adorable little wife had completely wrecked him.
"My wife ..." Edmund touched his lips, his fingers lingering as if trying to hold onto the memory of her kiss. He leaned over the railing with a deep sigh. "I already miss you."
Meanwhile, on the other side of the castle, someone else was having a meltdown of her own.
Primrose practically sprinted down the hallway toward her room, her heart racing in her chest.
She was so flustered that she bumped into several maids on the way. At one point, she completely forgot where her bedroom was and had to ask a passing soldier to guide her.
The second she stepped inside, she slammed the door shut, taking a deep breath before throwing herself onto the bed.
