"Do you know why your husband doesn’t allow you to enter the other rooms?" Primrose asked gently as she followed Bianca up to the second floor.

"I’ve never asked," Bianca replied without hesitation. "If he tells me not to do something, then I simply don’t do it. That’s all." Her voice sounded calm, almost indifferent.

[How would I even know what’s inside those rooms?] she thought. [He always locks them, and he never lets the maids or the soldiers open them for me.]

It was strange.

Averon did not forbid Bianca from entering just one room, but he forbade her from entering dozens of rooms. If Edmund ever told Primrose she was not allowed to enter half the rooms in Noctvaris, she would have thrown him out of his own chamber instead.

"Have you never been curious?" Primrose asked again as they stepped onto the balcony.

Bianca looked at her for a moment and frowned slightly. "It’s better not to think about it," she said. "Being too curious only brings trouble. You know husbands don’t like nagging wives, right?"

Primrose gave a slow nod. "Right... my husband would shout at me if I asked too many questions," she lied smoothly. "I wonder why men always have so much energy to be angry all the time."

Some men got angry because they were inept lycans who did not know how to express their true feelings, while others were angry simply because they hated their wives.

"Please, have a seat," Bianca said, gesturing toward the chairs placed on the balcony.

The snow had begun to fall softly, covering the palace garden in white. Primrose shivered as the cold wind touched her skin. "Why don’t we just talk in the corridor?" she suggested.

The weather might not have been as cold as during a snowstorm, but it was still cold.

"Don’t be silly." Bianca waved her hand lightly. "How could I let my guest stand in the corridor?"

But Primrose would rather stand in the corridor than sit on the freezing balcony. Fortunately, she had brought her coat before leaving the parlor, so she still had some protection.

"Oh, come on. Just sit." Bianca suddenly grabbed her hand and pressed her down into one of the chairs.

When Primrose tried to stand again, Bianca placed a firm hand on her shoulder. Then she leaned closer and whispered near her ear. "There are too many eyes in the corridor," she murmured in a low voice. "This is the only place where they can’t see us."

Primrose froze in place when she heard her words. Slowly, she looked around the balcony.
