The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 520

Chapter 520: Opening the Locks (I)

Edmund slipped in through the window first, followed by the others once Primrose had already dealt with the soldiers.

Aster, who had no idea what was going on, looked completely confused. She couldn’t understand why the soldiers didn’t react at all, even when a group of intruders stood right in front of them. Worse, they moved like lifeless dolls, frozen in place unless someone made them act.

"Rosie... what’s going on here?" Aster whispered as soon as she climbed down from Callen’s arms.

Primrose simply shrugged. "I bribed them."

Aster blinked, her eyes slowly widening. "Y-You bribed them? Aren’t we not allowed to do that to royal soldiers?"

Primrose smiled lightly, not looking guilty at all. "Oh, my dear Aster... we can do anything. You just need enough money." She tilted her head slightly. "Anyway, why don’t we check that lock over there?"

Aster was still a little stunned by how easily Primrose changed the topic, but since what she said was indeed crucial, she immediately did as told.

"Give me a minute," Aster said, studying the lock. "My father used different patterns for each one, so I need to figure out what type this is first."

"Can’t we just use the key the soldiers have?" Callen asked. "They should have one, right? Otherwise, how do the maids get in?"

Aster shook her head. "It’s not that simple. The key alone isn’t enough. The lock also needs to recognize the user’s soul, and since those soldiers aren’t the main key holders, every time they open it... King Averon will know."

They had already opened the lock once at midnight for the maids. If they did it again now, Averon would definitely get suspicious.

"Then why didn’t we just go in with the maids?" Callen asked again.

Aster let out a small sigh. "Because the lock can also tell how many people enter... and who they are. It reports everything to the main holder."

In other words... these locks were almost impossible to bypass.

"That’s why I’m not going to open it," Aster continued calmly. "I’ll just disable its ability to send a signal to the main key holder."

Primrose nodded in approval. "Alright, take your time." She then turned to Callen and Solene. "The soldiers won’t bother us, but can you guard the intersection? Make sure no one suddenly comes this way."

Callen and Solene nodded at the same time, then immediately headed toward the corridor intersection.

To be honest, Primrose had never clearly explained to them what kind of abilities she possessed, but for some reason, they didn’t have many questions even though, from time to time, they saw her do things that were impossible.

However, she had once heard that personal guards had the ability to ignore their master’s personal matters, so they wouldn’t get into trouble.

At this point, Primrose actually didn’t mind if Callen and Solene caught a glimpse of her abilities. Besides, they had already shown their loyalty to her.

"Did they think something bad about you?" Edmund’s voice suddenly pulled her out of her thoughts. Primrose turned her head and saw him leaning closer, lowering himself so he could whisper near her ear.

"It’s not your fault." Primrose’s body slowly relaxed as Edmund pulled her closer and gently rubbed her arms. "I felt really sick before, but now that you’re here... it doesn’t bother me anymore."

"They won’t bother you again." Edmund finally wrapped his arms around her and held her close, gently patting her back as if trying to ease away everything she had felt.

Luckily, the people around them were too busy to notice. Otherwise, they might have "thrown up rainbows" seeing how openly the two of them showed their affection.

[Of course, they won’t bother her anymore. I’ll make sure to burn them—]

"Rosie," Aster suddenly called out, pulling Edmund out of his thoughts. Then she added, as both Edmund and Primrose turned to look at her, "I’ve found the right way to deactivate these locks."

There were at least three locks securing the west wing, and based on Aster’s explanation, each one had a different way to be disabled.

"How long do you need to open all of these locks?" Primrose asked.

Aster quickly calculated in her mind before answering, "Maybe around ten minutes or so."

Primrose raised an eyebrow. "That fast?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Aster smiled, clearly proud of herself. "My father made me build and disable these kinds of locks hundreds of times... so this is nothing."
