Finnegan didn't take Celine's request to heart. He had Alisha escort him back to Dragon Bay.
And then, under the resentful gaze of Alisha, he returned home.
Dinner had just been prepared when Bernice, in her casual clothes, laughed and said, “I was just about to call and ask when you'd be coming home.”
Finnegan walked over, naturally wrapping his arm around Bernice's slender waist. “With my darling at home, of course, I'd rush back to be with you whenever I'm free. But honestly, this feeling is quite wonderful!”
Indeed, having someone waiting at home and returning home to a warm meal was the purest and most beautiful pursuit of a man's life
Bernice felt a sweetness in her heart, but she deliberately hummed in response. “All you know is sweet talk. If I didn't know that you've never been in love before, I would suspect that you've honed your skills through countless girls.”
“That's foolish, Darling!”
Embracing her, Finnegan led her to the dining room and sat down. He then took the initiative to serve her a bowl of soup first, even blowing on it to cool it down before handing it over to her.
A wave of sweetness washed over Bernice's heart when she saw that. “How was the clinic today?”
To ease Bernice's worries, Finnegan said, “It's all right. In total, we treated more than two hundred patients.”
“So, what are your plans for the future?”
Upon hearing this, Finnegan asked, “What about the future?”
Bernice nodded slightly. “Your medical skills have impressed Mr. Magnussen enough to regard you as his master. I presume you won't be running a clinic for the rest of your life, will you?”
A thought struck Finnegan. “Darling, feel free to speak your mind.”
“Have you ever considered starting a medical company?” Bernice earnestly asked. “With your medical skills, I believe you could certainly train many good doctors. Furthermore, you should be quite familiar with pharmacology, so there shouldn't be much of a problem in the pharmaceutical sector, right? Given that your current network is quite good, I was wondering if you might want to seize the opportunity to embark on a major venture?”
After she finished speaking, Bernice turned her gaze toward Finnegan.
Although she didn't mind the level of Finnegan's achievements, she would still firmly choose him even if he remained as he was before.
However, if Finnegan had the capability to accomplish something significant, Bernice would indeed be quite pleased.
After all, there wasn't a woman who didn't wish her man to be someone important.
With a smile, Finnegan gently pinched Bernice's cheek, provoking a playful scowl from her. He then said, “So, you too wish for your husband to become successful!”
Beside them, a housekeeper was present. Bernice shyly slapped his hand, saying, “Who wouldn't want that?”
Finnegan reassured, “Don't worry. I, your husband, won't let you down. When the time is right, I'll give you a big surprise.”
Regi Group was his, but the announcement was withheld solely to maintain the stability of the company's morale and the stock market.
When the time came, it would surely surprise Bernice.
Bernice's eyes sparkled slightly. “It seems you've already begun, so I'm looking forward to it.”
“Look forward to it. You will eventually be proud of your husband.”
“You're so vain.” Bernice rolled her eyes at him.
Suddenly recalling something, she said, “By the way, my mom called me today. She said my granny wants us to bring you over next Friday evening to stay for a couple of days to meet you. After all, you're her grandson-in-law. Remember to make time!”
Finnegan furrowed his brows. “Your granny's house?”
Bernice nodded. “Yes. My granny's house is in the neighboring Capston. They want to see what kind of man I've chosen. You'll have to put on a good show when the time comes.”
Upon hearing this, Finnegan's frown deepened even further. Although they're Bernice's relatives, I don't want to get lectured. Besides, what if they're like the Zimmerman family? Should I still endure it?
It seemed as if Bernice knew what Finnegan was thinking, she reassured him with a smile, “Don't worry, the atmosphere at my granny's house is quite pleasant. Uncle Hector and his wife are not like Uncle Bishop and his wife. They are different. Moreover, both my granddad and granny are retired teachers. They won't be too overbearing.”
Finnegan furrowed his brows. “Norman is here? Is he standing up for the two fools he adopted as his wife's children?”
“Most likely so.”
With a cold laugh, Finnegan said, “I hope he isn't. Otherwise, the underworld king of Jipsdale might have to be replaced.”
With that, Finnegan hung up the phone, not taking it too seriously.
That was despite the fact that the person involved was the underworld king of Jipsdale, Norman.
Subsequently, while Bernice had not yet come out from taking a bath, he dialed Reynard's number.
As soon as the call connected, Reynard's helpless, bitter laugh came through. “Are you rushing me again?”
“If not?” Finnegan retorted. “With a skilled assassin lurking in the shadows, ready to strike at any moment, how could I not be anxious?”
Reynard sighed. “There's nothing we can do. Whether it's the client or news about Cameron, we've heard nothing. You need to prepare for the worst.”
The worst-case scenario would be that even Phoenix Team couldn't trace Cameron.
Finnegan pinched the bridge of his nose. “Do your best, then. If it really doesn't work out, find a way to locate the headquarters of the Blood Moon for me.”
Reynard knew Finnegan's intentions, so he nodded and then asked, “By the way, I heard that you disabled Mr. Sheppard's son today. Aren't you afraid that he might hold a grudge against you?”
“Would he dare?”
With a bitter smile, Reynard said, “It seems you've already sorted things out, so I won't say more. I'll call you when there's news!”
When Reynard was about to hang up the phone, Finnegan had intended to mention that Norman had arrived in Nuthana, suggesting that he arrange for someone to keep an eye on him.
After some consideration, Finnegan decided to refrain. He had already caused Reynard enough trouble. “I'll wait for your good news!” he said.
