“Do you really think I would let you remain silent after gaining such leverage over you?”
Finnegan once again shot out a silver needle.
Immediately, Timothy started to feel an itch all over his body, and it was getting increasingly intense.
He couldn't help but scream out loud. He continuously scratched with both hands, leaving behind streaks of blood. “Finnegan, what have you done? What have you done?”
Finnegan responded indifferently, “I haven't done much. I just made your nerves more sensitive. All you're experiencing is the sensation of countless ants crawling over your body. Right, it's the skin now, but this kind of itch will seep beneath your skin, even reaching your internal organs. So, keep persevering. Once, there was a person who persisted for three minutes. I hope you break his record!”
However, it was clear that Finnegan had set his expectations too high for Timothy.
He couldn't hold out for even a minute before he began to wail for mercy. “I'll talk. I'll talk. Just please stop.”
Finnegan shrugged. “I'm sorry. You go first.”
“Finnegan, you rascal!”
“It seems you intend to brush me off. Keep suffering, then.”
Not having that kind of endurance, Timothy cried out, “I'll tell you. Just don't make me suffer like this first.”
Finnegan smiled contentedly. “That's more like it.”
He reduced the intensity of the itch with a tap of his finger.
Feeling somewhat better, Timothy confessed in fear, “It's just as you said. In order to prevent my grandfather from handing over the Zimmerman family and the company to Uncle Patrick's family, I deliberately took him fishing by the river and pushed him in when he was not paying attention. Then, I deliberately waited for three to four minutes before calling the bodyguard to rescue him, thinking that my grandfather must have already died by the time he was saved. Surprisingly, he was still breathing, and I couldn't bring myself to strike again. So, to ensure he doesn't wake up, I have no choice but to kill you. Please spare me. I was wrong.”
Finnegan asked, “Does your grandmother approve of what you're doing?”
Timothy shook his head in distress. “No. My grandmother only wanted to seize the opportunity when my grandfather fell ill to transfer everything to my father.”
A subtle wave of regret washed over Finnegan.
He fervently hoped that Millicent was one of the participants.
“Who else is in this besides you? You surely couldn't have thought of this, could you?”
Timothy scratched his body and said, “It was solely my idea.”
Catching the flicker in his eyes as he responded, Finnegan sneered, “Timothy, you're not being honest, are you?”
Finnegan tapped his finger, and Timothy let out a horrific scream. He clawed at his skin with both hands, tearing it open. “No, no!”
In a deep voice, Finnegan asked, “Tell me, who exactly made you do this? Why did you agree?”
“It truly was my own idea.”
Seeing him persist like this, Finnegan intensified the sensitivity of Timothy's nerves.
Timothy's eyes bulged out. His skin was marred by deep scratches, and his voice was already hoarse. “I... I'll tell you.”
“Speak!”
“It was my mother who made me do it.” Timothy had completely given up resisting at this point. “She said that if I didn't do this, I might end up with nothing in the future. I'm not my father's biological son, and my grandfather already knows!”
Finnegan's eyes darkened. “I've known for a while that you're not of the Zimmerman family bloodline. But how did your mother find out that your grandfather knew about it?”
Bruce had asked Finnegan to keep their previous conversation confidential, as family scandals should not be aired in public.
Logically, in order to hide his embarrassment, Bruce certainly wouldn't have taken the initiative to approach Sapphire with questions.
Timothy replied, “My mother sneaked into my grandfather's study one day to steal his official seal to alter some documents and embezzle money from the company. However, she discovered a DNA test report in the drawer, which was between my grandfather and me. It was due to this DNA test report that I agreed to my mother's request to kill my grandfather. Otherwise, if my grandmother found out, she wouldn't help me anymore.”
“So that's how it is. Your mother is indeed quite ruthless!”
“I've told you everything, so please spare me now!”
He was about to call back when a text message from Sapphire arrived. It read: Your dad is beside me. What's wrong?
Only then did Timothy understand and proceeded to reply to the text message.
Soon, Sapphire replied: Remember, everything you said was under Finnegan's coercion, or else he would have killed you. Your grandmother, your father, and I are almost there. You must remember this. Delete this message after reading it!
After reading the text message, Timothy quickly deleted it and hurriedly ran downstairs.
Finnegan and all of the Wahlstrom family's elite had left.
Upon seeing him covered in blood and scratches, the four bodyguards from the Zimmerman family wore expressions of embarrassment. “Mr. Zimmerman, are you all right?”
“All of you are utterly useless. Get lost!”
Timothy gave each of them a slap and left the garden.
He was ready to play the victim as soon as Millicent arrived. He planned to gain her trust by accusing Finnegan first.
Soon, the Zimmerman family's convoy made its appearance.
Timothy burst into tears and rushed forward. “Grandma, you're finally here. Finnegan—”
“Timothy, you scoundrel, prepare to meet your end!” Suddenly, Jacques leaped out from behind the bushes on the left.
Gripping a sharp knife, he lunged forward, pulling Timothy into an embrace before he could react. The knife in his hand then found its way into Timothy's abdomen.
Inside the arriving car, Millicent's eyes widened. “Tim!”
Bishop and Sapphire also cried out in alarm, “Tim!”
Further down at a distant intersection, Finnegan sat in the car and a smile played on his lips as he dialed Romona's number. “Hey, do me a favor and make Jacques's last days a bit more bearable.”
Then, after hanging up the phone, he turned to Hailey, whose expression was blank, and said, “Let's go home!”
