In the evening, Finnegan informed Quiana before leaving to return to Dragon Bay upon seeing no patients around.
No sooner had he stepped out of Jerome Medical Clinic than a car abruptly screeched to a halt and stopped right in front of him with a swerve.
The burning rubber smell dispersed with the wind.
Finnegan covered his nose. At the same time, Casper and the others also came out upon hearing the din.
“Get in the car, Finnegan. My grandfather is looking for you!”
The car window rolled down, revealing Waylynn's exquisite and striking face.
Finnegan's brows furrowed, and he said, “Don't be so ostentatious next time.”
Turning back, he addressed everyone. “Don't worry. She's a friend.”
He pulled open the car door and got in. Waylynn then floored the gas pedal, and the car shot out, showcasing its raw power.
Quiana tugged at Casper. “Who was that girl?”
Casper shook his head. “I have no idea!”
“I know,” Yuliana interjected. “Her name is Waylynn Wright. Her grandfather is Nathan Wright, Old Mr. Wright. She suffered burns a few years ago but was recently healed by Finnegan!”
Upon hearing that, Quiana clicked her tongue. “Ms. Wright? Is it okay for Finny to go out with her? It seems that I would need to find a time to remind him about things again.”
Meanwhile, in the car that had sped off, Finnegan was naturally unaware of what Quiana was thinking.
One of his hands gripped the car door handle tightly. “Could you possibly drive a bit slower? I'm not even married yet. Nor have I experienced the joys of being a man. I don't want to die so young!”
“Whoa! How could you hold back with a fiancée as beautiful as Bernice?” Waylynn joked.
Nonetheless, she also slowed down the car a bit.
Curling his lips, Finnegan said, “I am a man who respects women!”
“Not bad.” Waylynn seemed quite satisfied, nodding her head.
Finnegan cast her a glance.
Although Waylynn was currently wearing a wig, it did not detract from her beauty in the slightest.
Moreover, her skin was newly regenerated, and she was previously in the Military Department, so her figure was exceptionally alluring.
Sitting sideways with her seatbelt fastened, she was extraordinarily seductive.
Waylynn noticed his gaze and asked, “What are you looking at? Do I look more appealing now than when I'm not wearing anything?”
Upon being discovered, Finnegan cleared his throat in embarrassment and averted his gaze. “There's a saying that ambiguity fuels the imagination and satisfies the mind.”
“How despicable!”
Finnegan was momentarily rendered speechless, but he couldn't be bothered to argue with Waylynn. “What does your grandfather want with me? Didn't we have dinner together just a couple of days ago?”
“Have you had some conflict with the Gallagher family from Glenport these past few days?” Waylynn asked in return.
Finnegan nodded. “That's indeed true.”
He then roughly recounted the events of Devin's visit yesterday and the incident that happened that day.
“So, they investigated my situation and realized that no method would work, thus turned to your grandfather for help?”
Waylynn frowned. “Old Mr. Gallagher called you a dog?”
“Yeah.” Recalling the events yesterday, Finnegan still felt a bit irked. “His metaphor was essentially calling me a dog, saying there was no need to take offense with me. Today, his granddaughter acted high and mighty, trying to suppress me with money. I was really irritated!”
In other words, even if the Gallagher family sought Nathan's help, it would only be in vain.
With no other choice left, Maxim could only awkwardly turn to Nathan. “What do you think, Old Mr. Wright?”
Upon hearing his words, Nathan feigned ignorance. “It's clear that Finnegan doesn't bother showing even me any respect. So, you should figure things out yourself. If an apology is needed, do consider apologizing. If there's anything else, you can contact Adam directly.”
Maxim was a smart man. He understood the meaning behind Nathan's words and knew he was being subtly asked to leave.
He sighed quietly, deciding it was no longer wise to feign ignorance. “I'm sorry about the trouble, Old Mr. Wright. I will visit again when I'm free next time.”
Nathan nodded. “Waylynn, please see them out.”
After Waylynn had seen off the duo and returned, Nathan asked with a smile, “Given Finnegan's temperament, he would have shown up for my sake even if he weren't going to agree. If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who let Finnegan off halfway, huh?”
Smiling, Waylynn walked over and sat down. “I've always disapproved of the Gallagher family's arrogance all these years. And after hearing what Finnegan had to say, I naturally wouldn't indulge them.”
“The Gallagher family has indeed gone too far.” Nathan nodded slightly. “Just because of the contributions made by the family's second generation back then, they've grown unrestrained and arrogant. Although Devin is generally fine, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so he's a bit arrogant.”
Waylynn commented, “The inherent flaws of the second-generation heirs are evident. As for Old Mr. Gallagher, he's even worse. Being a third-generation heir, he has never experienced poverty in his lifetime and has always been flattered by others.”
Gently moving his legs, Nathan gazed at the distant sky.
“The wind is picking up, and the next typhoon is coming soon. I wonder what this typhoon might take away and change after it passes?”
Waylynn blinked her eyes. “Grandpa, why do your words carry double meanings?”
Chuckling lightly, Nathan retorted, “It's nothing. But do you happen to like Finnegan?”
Waylynn's face flushed as she nodded without hesitation. “You could say that. But more than anything, I want him to take responsibility. After all, he saw all of me when he was treating me.”
“Then, you must work hard. Your competitor, Bernice, is the weakest.”
“Rest assured that I will definitely succeed!”
