The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1039

In the main hall, Samantha paused, took a deep breath, and tried to steady herself for Nora’s arrival. She’d even planned out exactly what she’d say when they finally met again.

But nothing went as planned.

As soon as Nora walked in, she gave Samantha a gentle smile and said, “Samantha, it’s been so long.” That was all it took. Everything Samantha had rehearsed vanished from her mind. Her eyes grew wide, she forgot to breathe, and just like that, she fainted again.

“Samantha!”

“Mom!”

Kevin and his three brothers shouted at the same time.

Roger hurried to her side and checked her pulse, rubbing his temples with a sigh. “Did we only give the sedatives to Grandpa and not Mom?” he mumbled.

Kenneth shook his head. “She took them. Same dose as Grandpa.”

Honestly, if Grandpa could handle it, their mom should have been even tougher. The three brothers just exchanged a look, not sure what to say, then quietly lifted Samantha and carried her out.

The hall went completely still.

Robert sat on the sofa, gripping Nora’s hands so tightly his knuckles turned white. He stared at her, as if he was afraid she might disappear if he blinked. Even now, actually holding her, it didn’t feel real. He’d had this dream of Nora coming back for years, and every time he woke up, it hurt all over again.

“Alright. I’m listening.” Robert nodded, suddenly quiet. He looked at Nora like she was the most precious thing in the world, like he was afraid to let go.

Nora started from the beginning. She told him everything. She talked about going to Solenia, being hunted, and meeting Franco. She explained how they fell in love. She made sure to say she’d kept her distance only because she was scared of putting the family in danger. After Franco brought her back to Solenia, she’d been in a coma for more than ten years. She repeated that none of it was Franco’s fault.

Watching her father grit his teeth, Nora knew if she didn’t clear that up, he’d probably tear Franco apart himself.

“Dad, that’s the truth,” Nora finished, her voice rough and tired. “These last twenty years have been chaos. I know I’ve let you down.”

Just thinking about how Nora had hidden her identity, how she’d struggled through sickness and loneliness to bring Charlotte into the world, all for the sake of protecting them, made Robert’s heart ache. He was angry too. How could Nora put herself through all of that for the family? If only he’d known, he would’ve done anything, risked anything, to protect her.
