The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1082

“Give me the files. You can go rest,” Charlotte said quietly as she flipped through the papers.

Anthony wasn’t asleep. If he wasn’t, Hans didn’t dare to be either.

“Yes, Charlotte.” Hans forced his tired eyes open, bowed, and slipped out of the room.

Once he left, Charlotte pulled her laptop from her bag and set it on her lap. She typed with one hand, her fingers moving quickly over the keys.

A world map popped up on the screen. She scrolled, the map shrinking and shifting until it stopped at the area near the Isle of Veil. She studied the closest tourist spots and their borders, making mental notes of every detail. Then she grabbed the files again.

After flipping a few pages, she found a location that matched the map. Less than thirty kilometers from the Isle of Veil, there was a small border town. According to the documents, her mother had visited that place with a research team.

If her mother was going to make a deal with Aloys, she’d probably pick somewhere close by.

Charlotte trimmed the information, organized it, and sent it off to her team.

Even with the search area narrowed, she still felt uneasy. She hacked into the Genetic Biology Research Institute’s system, then into the Hawk Family’s as well. If Nora got in touch, her location would show up for sure.

After everything was done, Charlotte closed her laptop and slumped against the sofa, worn out.

Nora could be so clueless sometimes.

Whatever. She could just let them pretend they were really on a second honeymoon.

...

On the Isle of Veil, the study was dim and silent. Aloys sat at his desk, his hands clenched tight on the polished wood.

“So you’re saying my father is investigating Franco?”

“Yes.” The subordinate bowed his head. “Allanson also gave another order...”

“What order?”

“He wants us to dig into whether Franco ever had a child.”
