The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1091

“Absolutely not!”

Franco shot down Charlotte’s idea right away. He realized he sounded too harsh, so he lowered his voice and tried to coax her. “Come on, sweetheart. Stay home with your mom.”

“I’ll have to go back eventually.”

Charlotte dropped a strawberry into Anthony’s palm, took a tissue, and wiped her fingers in a lazy, almost careless way. She looked up, her gaze calm. “If Allanson managed to find out about me, there’s no way he’ll miss the genetic mutation. He’ll figure it out sooner or later.”

“But, Lottie…”

“If I want to go, you can’t stop me.” Charlotte crumpled up the tissue and tossed it in the trash, her voice light but firm. “And honestly, there are a lot of things I need to take back for myself.”

At first, her only goal was the cure.

But now… she’d changed her mind.

Franco saw how determined she was and knew he couldn’t change her mind. He looked over at Anthony, hoping for some backup.

Anthony caught Franco’s look. He frowned and squeezed Charlotte’s hand, offering a tired smile. “Dad, I’m not the boss here. Whatever she decides, I’m behind her. No questions asked.”

Franco nearly lost his temper.

At least he was trying to talk sense into her. Anthony wouldn’t even open his mouth to disagree. He was even more useless than Franco himself.

Franco hesitated, then decided to bring up Nora. His voice was gentle but serious. “If you leave, your mother won’t have anyone to look after her. And you know she’d never agree to this.”

“She’ll have to, whether she wants to or not.”

Charlotte shot her father a cool, irritated look. “Mom doesn’t have much time left. Until they come up with a new cure, we have to get the one Allanson has.”

Franco’s brow furrowed, but he didn’t argue anymore.

If Allanson found out about Lottie and Nora’s situation, he’d definitely use the cure to threaten them.

This trip to the Isle of Veil was not going to be easy.
