The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1102

Two letters were etched into the pendant: ML.

Charlotte looked at him, puzzled.

“Take a guess. What do you think the letters mean?” Anthony asked softly. He wrapped his arm around her, gently rubbing her tired hand.

ML.

Charlotte thought it over. It couldn’t be something as simple as ‘my love.’ She paused, then a slow smile curved her lips and her eyes sparkled. “My life?”

Anthony gave a low, warm laugh, his voice vibrating right against her ear. “My life.”

Lottie, you’re my life.

Charlotte raised an eyebrow. “That’s a lot of pressure, you know.” She watched him for a moment, then leaned in and kissed him softly. “For you, I guess I’d better take good care of myself.”

“That’s what I’m hoping for.” Anthony lifted her hand, kissed her knuckles, and his gaze grew deeper as he lowered his head toward her…

“Lottie.”

Right before their lips could meet, the door swung open. Franco burst in, grinning from ear to ear.

He stopped dead when he saw them, his smile freezing in place. For a second, he just stood there, then managed to grind out through clenched teeth, “You two…”

Charlotte didn’t say a word.

Neither did Anthony.

Franco let out a heavy sigh, frustration and resignation all over his face. “Next time, remember to lock the door!”

Anthony’s face turned cold. He didn’t hang up, just looked at Charlotte. “Do you want to keep your Asclepius identity a secret?”

“No need.” Charlotte didn’t even look up, her fingers moving fast across the keyboard. “Tell Hans to leak it.”

Her information was locked down tight. They’d never find out more than she wanted them to know. Besides, her gene mutation research was way more tempting to them than any antidote.

Anthony was sure they’d believe Lottie was the only one who could’ve pulled it off.

“Are you planning to take back the Gene-Bio Research Institute?” Anthony ended the call and came back to her side, gently rubbing the back of her neck. “Your grandmother would be proud.”

Charlotte turned to him, eyes serious. “I won’t let her life’s work go to waste.”

Someone would have to answer for her death.
