The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1124

So why hadn’t he seen her yet?

Allanson stared down at the photo album in his hands, his grip tightening. Where was she?

At the doorway, Marcia listened to the conversation, her face losing all color. “Dad, are you saying Mr. Churchill has the gene mutation?”

Aloys nodded, his expression calm and detached. “Yes. But it’s not hereditary, so there’s no research value in it.”

Marcia’s voice shook. “So when you said Mr. Churchill would marry me, no matter what happened with Charlotte… it’s really because Newell needs the antidote, isn’t it?”

“That’s right,” Aloys said, not even trying to hide it. She was bound to find out sooner or later.

“But Charlotte is Asclepius…” Marcia trailed off, looking stunned as the realization hit her.

Aloys gave a cold chuckle. “So what if she’s Asclepius? She has no resources, no equipment. All that skill means nothing if she can’t use it.”

“Your marriage to Mr. Churchill is already decided. Nothing will change that. Unless Mr. Churchill has a death wish.”

“I understand.” Suddenly, everything made sense to Marcia.

“And keep looking for that bracelet,” Aloys said, his voice low and certain. “There’s a really good chance the catalyst is inside it.”

Marcia nodded slowly. “I’ve already put out a notice. The reward is huge—anyone who sees it will want to help.”

She was willing to do whatever it took to marry Mr. Churchill.

Newell’s lips curled into an unreadable smile. “What do you think?”

“Knowing Nine, she’ll give it to her mother for sure.”

Newell lifted his eyebrows, considering.

“That means Nine’s still out of luck,” Cedric said, frowning.

“At least she’ll be happy, finally free to focus on everything else,” Newell replied with a quiet sigh. His voice was rough around the edges. “Give her whatever she needs. My fate is tied to hers now.”

No one else in the world could make an antidote for this mutation—except Charlotte.

“Yes, sir!” Cedric’s eyes gleamed with understanding, his voice ringing with certainty.
