The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1164

Five minutes ticked by. Still no reply from Anthony.

Charlotte frowned, gave up on texting, and called instead. After a long ring, Anthony finally picked up. His voice sounded amused. “What’s wrong? Already managed to blow through the fortune you made off Allanson?”

Anthony was burning up with a fever, soaking in a cold bath, his skin ghost-pale. But he still managed to sound like he was teasing her.

Charlotte tapped her fingers on the desk, her voice low. “What took you so long to answer?”

Anthony let out a soft laugh. “I was in the shower.”

“Were you, though?” Charlotte wasn’t convinced.

“If you don’t believe me, we can always video chat.”

A video call from the bathroom? Charlotte snorted. “If you get yourself arrested for indecency, I’m not bailing you out.”

Anthony laughed, the sound easing some of the pain in his body. “So how are things going on the Isle of Veil? When do I get to come play hero for you?”

“Give it two days.” Charlotte propped her chin on her arms and smiled. “I got the money I needed, and the stuff that needed to disappear is basically gone.”

Everything was set. All that was left was the final step.

“To reclaim the rights to the genetics institute, you’ll need to prove you’re Mrs. W’s granddaughter.” Anthony’s voice softened. “Any ideas on how to do that?”

“Yeah.” Charlotte’s answer was casual, like she’d already worked it all out. After a short pause, she added, “But I need your help with something.”

“Anything,” Anthony said.

“My grandma left me a box of books, most of them in foreign languages. Can you help me check if there’s anything about the Hawk Family? Especially Allanson.”

Mrs. W and Allanson… Anthony frowned, but didn’t push for details. “Alright. I’ll let you know if I find anything.”

Charlotte pretended she hadn’t heard him and hung up right away.

After the call, her mood was a lot lighter.

She changed into something better for sneaking around at night and slipped out of the institute while everyone else was asleep.

She hopped on the motorcycle Jackson had left for her and sped straight toward the Churchill Group.

From what she’d found in the files, when the genetics institute was first set up, the equipment was outdated. The five founders had to go back and forth to the Churchill Group for their research.

The Churchill Group’s pharmacy division was locked down tight. You needed to pass several layers of security to get in. One of those was a blood test. Every visit was recorded.

If her hunch was right, those records and blood samples were still stashed in the pharmacy. If she could get her hands on them, she could run a DNA test, prove she was Mrs. W’s granddaughter, and finally claim what was rightfully hers.
