The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1190

Anthony knew exactly how the first round of that serum had hit his body. Testing two versions in such a short window meant ramping up the dose. He wasn’t sure he could take it.

“There’s no time left.” His voice was rough, his grip tight around the phone. “I need to get the genetic mutation as soon as possible, then we can move on to testing the antidote.”

There was no way he’d let Lottie be the one to test it, risking all the fallout if it failed.

“I’ll set it up,” Dr. David replied. He knew trying to talk Anthony out of it was useless, so he tried to lighten the mood. “Heard you’re getting engaged tomorrow.”

“Yeah.” Anthony’s face softened, a small smile tugging at his lips, a touch of pride shining through.

“About time someone managed to keep her in check,” Dr. David chuckled, then sighed. “I won’t be at the engagement dinner, but I’ll bring a big gift for your wedding.”

Anthony’s grin grew. “Sounds good.”

Lottie wasn’t into big parties, and with her still in school, it didn’t feel right to make a scene. The families would just have dinner together, nothing flashy. The wedding could wait, and when it came, he’d make sure it was perfect for her. She deserved it.

He ended the call just as Charlotte stepped out of the bathroom. She wore a soft nightgown, damp hair trailing over her shoulders, brows pulled together in a tiny frown. She looked a little out of sorts.

“What’s up?” Anthony put his phone aside, grabbed the hair dryer, and came over. He bent down, kissed her cheek, and smiled. “Why the long face?”

“I’m annoyed,” Charlotte muttered. She settled into his lap and peeked down at her stomach. “I think I’ve put on weight.”

Dr. David’s face brightened. “If we can get the original formula, that’d be the best outcome.”

Anthony stayed silent. That was why he wanted to speed up the process, take on the mutation himself, and test the antidote before anyone else had to risk it.

Back in his car, Anthony listened as Hans’s voice came through the speaker. “Anthony, the other party’s using a cutting-edge address simulator. There are thousands of fake locations, all at once. Our team’s working on it, but it’s tricky.”

Cutting-edge tech, lots of smoke and mirrors. Whoever was behind this wasn’t playing around. It made Anthony even more suspicious about the bracelet’s true origin.

“Send the address to Lottie’s email.” Anthony’s frown deepened, his eyes growing cold and hard. “Let Lottie handle it.”
