The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1200

“Whose baby is it?” His voice shook so much it almost broke. “Is it yours?”

Charlotte awkwardly ran her fingers through her hair and patted the chair next to her. “Sit down,” she said softly.

Dr. David sat down like someone had cut his strings. He looked lost, as if his world had just collapsed around him.

The shock was too much for him to handle. He couldn’t even begin to imagine Charlotte having a baby.

“How long have you known?” he finally asked, after a long, heavy silence. His face looked even older than usual, worry etched deep into every line.

She was a genetic mutant now. Getting pregnant at a time like this... the risk of passing it on was huge.

“About two weeks,” Charlotte answered, glancing up. She didn’t look pregnant at all.

“Are you thinking of keeping this from Anthony?” Dr. David’s concern was obvious.

There was no way she could keep it a secret for long.

“No,” Charlotte replied. “I just want to make sure of a few things first. I’ll tell him after I deal with Olivia.”

The baby wasn’t just her responsibility. Anthony deserved to know, too.

But things were a mess right now. If Anthony found out she was pregnant on top of everything else, she honestly wasn’t sure he could handle it.

Especially when they didn’t even know if this baby would be born safe and healthy.

“That’s actually why I came,” she said. “I wanted to ask if my gene mutation could affect the baby.”

Dr. David let out a long sigh, his voice softer now. “It’s definitely going to have an impact.”

“But it’s not set in stone,” Dr. David added quickly. He saw the sadness flicker in her eyes, and his tone turned warm, almost gentle. “We’ve got some time. We can research it. See if there’s anything we can do.”

He could tell. Lottie wasn’t ready to give up on this baby.

“Okay.” Charlotte nodded, then stood up. She looked him right in the eyes. “I’ll tell Anthony myself.”

“I understand,” Dr. David replied. He walked her to the door and stopped her for a moment. “Take care of yourself.”

“I will.” Charlotte stuck her hands in her pockets, shot a little glance at her stomach, and managed a crooked smile. “This baby’s got good instincts. Not causing me any trouble at all.”

When she got in her car, that smile faded. Her whole body felt tense.

She pressed her hand to her stomach through her shirt, took a shaky breath, and whispered, “Be strong for me, okay?”
