“DM?”
Adonis flicked his cigarette into the trash, crossed his arms, and flashed a smile that made it clear he wasn’t here to play nice.
“That’s right.” Marcia stood tall, doing her best to keep her voice steady. “DM runs Novaria. If you try anything here, do you really think you’ll get away with it?”
She’d paid a fortune for the invitation, and DM was the one who brought her to Novaria. No way would DM just stand by if something happened to her.
Adonis looked impressed, but anyone could tell he was faking it. He patted his chest and shook his head. “Wow, I’m terrified.”
Jackson didn’t say a word.
Marcia felt a chill run down her spine. Charlotte and Anthony had no real power in Novaria, and they were supposed to need DM’s help. Would they really risk going after her right under DM’s nose?
“Call DM. Now.” Marcia gave a sharp nod to the bodyguard next to her. He pulled out his phone.
Before he could dial, someone sent the phone flying with a swift kick.
“Tie her up.” Adonis brushed off his pants and shot Marcia a bored look, like he was already tired of this conversation.
“Yes, sir.” The men closed in.
“I’m the heiress of the Hawk Family…” Marcia stepped back, her eyes icy, her chin held high. “Do you have any idea who you’re messing with?”
Adonis gave her a slow, mocking once-over, then smirked. “Yeah, you’re exactly who I’m here for tonight.”
“Gag her. Get her in the car.”
A strip of tape was slapped across Marcia’s mouth, sealing her words. Panic filled her eyes as she struggled, almost breaking free from the men holding her.
Jackson stepped forward and, with a swift chop to her neck, knocked her out cold.
Charlotte nodded, already busy working both phones at once. A radar-like scanner popped up on the screen, tracing Olivia’s location from a call.
“Follow me.” Charlotte tossed one phone to Jackson and set off toward the spot shown on the radar. Anthony stayed close behind her.
Meanwhile, in a rundown motel, Olivia was hiding inside a closet, shaking as she listened to the chaos outside. Something was definitely up. Charlotte must have found her. Was this really how it was going to end for her?
She held her breath, but suddenly the closet door flew open.
She screamed, terrified. But when she saw the man standing there, confusion flickered across her pale face. Pressed against the back of the closet, she stared at the stranger. “Who are you?” she whispered, her voice barely steady.
“If you want to live, hand over the bracelet.” His tone was ice cold.
The bracelet? This wasn’t one of Charlotte’s people.
It felt like hope. Olivia swallowed her fear and forced herself to sound calm. “I don’t have it on me. If you want it, you’ll have to get me out of here first.”
