The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1231

“Get back. Who said you could touch her?”

Allanson’s voice cut through the air, deep and full of irritation.

For a second, the whole room froze.

Aloys stared. Rena just stood there, mouth open. Everyone else seemed just as confused, glancing at each other, trying to figure out what was happening. Was Allanson actually standing up for Charlotte?

Aloys and Rena exchanged a look, both of them turning even paler. The bodyguards didn’t hesitate. “Yes, sir,” they answered, stepping away.

Jackson and Adonis, ready for a fight, couldn’t help but raise their eyebrows. “What the hell is going on?” Jackson muttered.

Anthony squeezed Charlotte’s hand, his thumb tracing gentle circles on her skin. His eyes softened as he looked at her. “Does it hurt?”

“I’m fine,” Charlotte replied, spinning the gun in her palm with a calm shrug. “This one just isn’t that great.”

Anthony smiled a little. “I’ll get you a new one when we get home.”

“No need,” Charlotte said, tossing the gun to Adonis. A sly smile flickered across her lips. “You shouldn’t play with things like this too much. It’s too easy to lead people astray.”

Anthony blinked, caught off guard. “What?”

Allanson’s face darkened, clouds gathering in his eyes. Rena immediately shut her mouth, but she could see the shift in his expression. The woman he loved had left him and had kids with someone else. What man could accept that?

She’d wanted to push him over the edge, to make him finally turn on Charlotte.

Allanson took a deep breath, then looked back at Charlotte, gripping his cane tighter. His weathered face was hard to read. “You have two choices. Give me the bracelet and Marcia, and you can leave safely. If not…”

Charlotte’s lips curled up into a lazy smile, her eyes flashing with boldness. “Or what? You think just because you brought some guys here, and this is your territory, you can do whatever you want to us? Allanson, think carefully. Can you really pull that trigger? Do you even dare?”

Her voice was cold, every word sharp and clear. “If anything happens to me or my people here on the Isle of Veil, I promise you, the Hawk family won’t live to see the sunrise.”
