The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1369

The living room was huge and filled with sunlight. Helen led the group of maids as they quietly set the table for lunch, each one sneaking glances at the sofa.

Charlotte was sprawled there in a cozy, oversized knit sweater, completely at ease. She had a cup of ice cream in her hand and looked absolutely satisfied, savoring every bite. Across from her, Anthony sat straight-backed and handsome, his eyes following her every move. He looked a little annoyed, but there was something gentle in his expression too, like he couldn’t really stay mad at her.

When Charlotte finished her last spoonful, Anthony got up with a napkin, sat beside her, and carefully pulled her onto his lap. He wiped the corner of her mouth, his eyes soft as he looked at her pale cheek. “Feeling better now?”

Charlotte gave him a little huff and met his gaze. “It wasn’t my idea to eat this.”

“I know,” Anthony said, his voice warm, a quiet laugh escaping him. “Not your fault.”

Then, with a bit of effort, he lifted Charlotte in his arms and carried her over to the dining table.

While they ate, Charlotte scrolled through her phone and opened the family group chat. Right on cue, a new message from Adonis popped up.

Adonis: Charlotte, that job from yesterday needs to be done by seven.

Charlotte: Send me the info.

Ten seconds later, a phone number appeared on her screen, no explanation, nothing else. Charlotte stared at it. The number felt familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it.

She replied: I’ll send it before seven.

Adonis: Charlotte, are you low on cash or something?

Seriously? This is what counts as beautiful? Or talented? The people at the manga company must be blind. Charlotte never cared much about who adapted her work, but the actors should at least be good. Sabina just couldn’t pull it off.

Across town, things were even busier at the Cabinda TV station. Two shows were filming at once, the halls buzzing with people.

Emily had just finished recording her segment when she bumped straight into Sabina backstage. Sabina was getting ready for the contract signing that night.

“Emily, what a surprise,” Sabina said, flashing a sly smile, her voice dripping with challenge. “The signing ceremony’s about to start. Isn’t Apex Mediaworks supposed to be fighting me for the manga rights? Funny, I haven’t heard a thing from them.”

She tossed her hair and let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Oh, I get it. You still haven’t found the original author, have you?”

“You—” Emily’s assistant couldn’t keep quiet anymore, glaring at Sabina, who was enjoying every second of the drama. After all, Emily was the first one who reached out about the rights.
