Charlotte wanted to say something, but Anthony had already stormed off in a huff.
She just stood there, a little stunned, then glanced over at Helen in the kitchen with confusion on her face. “Is there something important happening next month?”
Helen paused what she was doing and grinned. “Your wedding with Anthony, remember?”
Oh. Right. Their wedding.
She’d actually forgotten the date. No wonder Anthony was upset.
Charlotte ran a hand through her hair, feeling pretty guilty. She put on her slippers and slowly made her way upstairs.
The bedroom door was open a crack, and she could see Anthony’s shadow inside.
She pressed against the doorway, peeking in with wide eyes and a curious tilt of her head. Her voice floated inside, light and clear.
“Why isn’t this door closed?”
Anthony was by the cabinet, arms folded. He looked gorgeous even though a gloomy cloud hung over his face.
Sheesh, he really looks mad.
First, she forgets their wedding date, and now she’s the one bothering him.
Charlotte slipped through the doorway, walked straight up to Anthony, and snuggled into his arms like she did it every day. She started fiddling with a button on his shirt. “Are you really that mad?”
“Yeah.” Anthony’s eyes softened as he looked at her.
He said he was angry, but his arms still moved to hold her around the waist.
“Our wedding’s next month.” Charlotte’s voice was extra soft, her whole vibe extra sweet.
