The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1588

Things quickly spun out of control after that. Kenneth spent most of dinner bossing Anthony around. The funny thing was, Anthony didn’t mind. In fact, he almost looked like he enjoyed it.

“The tofu on your left...” Kenneth said, not missing a beat.

Before Anthony could react, Charlotte, who had been quietly watching, scooped some tofu herself. She moved slowly, her eyebrows raised in that elegant, knowing way of hers, her gaze deep and unfathomable. “Here, let me serve you,” she said.

Kenneth met her cool, calm eyes. His hand stopped in the air and the smile on his face just faded away. He stammered, “N-no, that’s all right.” His lips twitched as he quietly stood up, grabbed a spoon, served himself, and sat back down just as silently.

Charlotte let out a soft, amused smile, her eyes sparkling. She teased, “Don’t want me to do it? Would you rather Anthony serve you?”

Kenneth shrank back, mumbling weakly, “No.”

Everyone else at the table tried their best not to burst out laughing.

After dinner, Charlotte hung out with the older relatives, chatting easily. Anthony and Kenneth drifted over to the big window, quietly discussing proposal plans.

“Is next week too soon?” Kenneth gave Anthony a serious look. “Lottie’s seen it all. If you do something half-baked, it’s just going to be embarrassing for everyone.”

Anthony nodded, watching Charlotte over on the sofa. A soft smile tugged at his lips. “Yeah, it’s a little rushed. That’s why I need your help.”

Kenneth clicked his tongue. “I’ll only help if you beg me.”
