The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1714

Geneva’s face stayed calm, not giving away a hint of emotion, no matter how much Dorothy tried to provoke her.

“What?”

Dorothy’s annoyance grew even sharper when she heard Geneva’s answer. Her patience was fading fast. “You can see for yourself whether Shirley and Andrew are a good match or not.”

“Let me make this clear for you, Geneva. Shirley dating Andrew, sure, whatever. But marrying into the Blair family? That is never going to happen.”

“If I’m not mistaken, Shirley’s the only one left in your family, right?”

Geneva glanced at Dorothy, puzzled by her words.

“She’s a good girl. But she should set her sights on someone who’s really within her reach, someone from her own kind of background. Otherwise…”

Dorothy leaned forward, pressing her hands on the table, eyes locked on Geneva with laser focus. “She’ll just end up wasting all her time and youth, and in the end, get tossed aside. Is that really worth it? Don’t you think so, Geneva?”

Geneva’s fingers tightened into fists, and a hint of anger colored her face. She spoke softly, but each word carried weight. “You’re right, the Blair family does have power and status here in Cabinda.”

“But I don’t see how my granddaughter is any less worthy than your son.”

Geneva looked Dorothy right in the eyes, strong and steady even though her voice was quiet. “She just happened to be born into an ordinary family. She’s kind, she’s loyal, and she works hard.”

Dorothy just scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Exactly. She’s just unlucky. So, she should accept her lot in life, not try to worm her way into a family like ours, dreaming she can change her fate and climb to the top. The Blair family is out of her league.”

Her red lips curled with a harsh smile, her words cold and merciless. “I didn’t invite you here to hear how amazing Shirley is. I’m here to give you a warning.”
