The autopsy results came back fast.

But making sense of the cause, even with those answers, wasn’t something anyone could do overnight.

For the next few days, Charlotte barely left the patients’ side. She kept a close eye on how they responded, watching every small change as the illness ran its course.

“The prescription you gave worked. The symptoms eased up,” Dr. David murmured, standing right next to her. “But it’s a temporary fix. The new team of experts from the International Medical Alliance just landed. They’ll be here soon.”

Charlotte gave a small nod. She stayed quiet for a few seconds, then tipped her chin up to look at him. “Modern medicine’s taking too long. I’m going to treat them with traditional medicine.”

“Traditional medicine?”

Dr. David raised his brows. He quickly pulled himself together. “You’ll need a lot of ingredients for that. Can you even get them here that quickly?”

Apex wasn’t exactly famous for herbal remedies.

“It might be tough for some people, but Anthony can handle it.”

Dr. David just stared for a moment. Now it made sense why Anthony hadn’t tagged along after all.

These two really were unstoppable together.

“Are you sure the International Medical Alliance is going to let you treat patients with herbs?” Dr. David asked quietly, worry clear in his voice.

Charlotte rolled the medicine vial between her fingers. A cold, quiet confidence settled on her features. “If they don’t agree, let’s see them try to stop me.”

Cabinda.

The moment Anthony got Charlotte’s email, he issued the orders.

As expected, within two hours the rare herbs were loaded into a private jet bound for Apex.

“Anthony, everything’s ready,” Hans reported, voice steady and respectful.

Anthony stood at the huge window in just a light shirt, rubbing the red string around his wrist as he stared out at the building across the street, his gaze dark and unblinking.

“Oh, and one more thing. The Blair Estate called a few minutes ago. Maybe they heard what happened with Charlotte. They want you to come home.”

“Tell them I’m busy,” Anthony said, pinching the bridge of his nose, voice low and firm.

He could guess what they’d say. He’d get blamed for not protecting Lottie, for letting her head into danger.
