Charlotte gave a quick smile, handing the report to the doctor. Her voice was gentle. “Could you give this to Anthony, please?”

“Huh?”

The doctor blinked, completely confused. “Charlotte, what do you mean?”

“I’m running away.”

She slipped on her jacket, nodded at the doctor, and managed a soft smile. “Thanks for everything.”

Without waiting for a reply, she walked out through a different exit, calm and cool.

Across the building, Anthony stood by the window, staring out at the city. He looked so cold, no one dared get close.

“Anthony, the doctor’s coming,” Hans said quietly.

Anthony turned around. He immediately noticed Charlotte wasn’t there and his brow furrowed.

“Anthony, this is Charlotte’s report.” The doctor glanced up, saw Anthony’s sharp, unreadable face, and immediately blurted, “Don’t worry, the baby is healthy.”

He didn’t realize the checkup was actually for a different reason.

“Where’s Charlotte?” Anthony asked, taking the report and glancing at it quickly. His voice was so low it was almost a growl.

“She…” The doctor swallowed, hesitating for a second before finishing, “She left.”

Left?

Hans was so shocked he almost choked on his own tongue.

“She said she was running away,” the doctor added, repeating exactly what Charlotte said. The look on Anthony’s face went from cold to thunderous, and the doctor got out of there fast.

Anthony stayed still, gripping the report in one hand. He pulled out his phone and tried calling Charlotte.

No answer.

He called again. This time her phone was off.

Unbelievable.

She really wasn’t planning to make this easy for him.

“Anthony, what should we do now?” Hans asked, trying not to sound as nervous as he felt.

“We’ll head back to Imperial Heights first.” Anthony folded the report neatly and tucked it away, his tone was deep, almost tired.
