"Alright."
Anthony opened the car door for her, handed her backpack to Jackson who was waiting outside, and carefully smoothed out her slightly rumpled hair. His voice was endlessly tender. "Your happiness is the only thing that matters. If they annoy you, just walk away."
"I know."
Charlotte reached out, giving the man's sharp jawline a playful squeeze. Flashing him a confident smirk, she spun around and strode toward the campus gates with undeniable swagger.
"Slow down," Anthony muttered, rubbing his forehead as he watched her reckless pace. He sighed softly. "Thank God it's two boys. With all the chaotic prenatal influences they're absorbing, if it were a girl, she'd be even harder to handle than her mother."
But then, thinking about dealing with two miniature versions of himself fighting for his wife's attention... Anthony's mood instantly darkened again.
Inside the Principal's Office.
Glenn was deep in conversation with two high-ranking executives from The Cabinda University's medical department.
The heavy oak doors clicked open. The moment Charlotte stepped into the room, all conversation abruptly died. The three men immediately stood up.
"Charlotte, you made it."
Glenn hurried forward with a welcoming smile. "Given the massive international shockwaves from the sleeping sickness cure, I assume everyone here is fully aware of this young lady's accomplishments. No need for introductions, right?"
"No need, no need at all!"
The first to step forward was the retired Dean of The Cabinda University's medical school. Dressed in an immaculate, formal suit, the white-haired man carried an aura of deep wisdom, his weathered face practically glowing with a warm, grandfatherly smile.
"Charlotte, or rather, Black. I've never had the honor of meeting you, but your reputation precedes you."
The old Dean enthusiastically extended his hand, devoid of any academic arrogance. "I have several of Black's published research papers on my desk at home. There are quite a few complex theories I couldn't quite unravel. If I ever get the chance, I'd love to pick your brain."
"It's an honor to finally meet you. I am Wallace, the former Dean of The Cabinda University's Medical College."
"A pleasure."
Charlotte reached out and shook his hand, responding with cool, perfectly measured politeness.
