Stella sat quietly on the sofa, hands resting on her knees as she stared anxiously out the window.
Roger pushed the door open, just in time to see the soft morning sunlight spilling over the girl.
She wore a simple white hoodie, straight-leg black jeans, and comfortable white sneakers.
Bathed in the golden light, she looked serene and breathtakingly beautiful. He couldn't tear his eyes away.

Hearing the door, Stella turned around.
Seeing who it was, she immediately stood up, her brow furrowing in a flustered panic. "Am I interrupting you?"

Roger stepped forward, stopping right in front of her. He gazed down at her, a faint smile touching his lips. "What brings you here?"

Stella pointed at the food on the table, struggling to explain. "Samantha made breakfast, and she..."
She couldn't exactly rat out his mother for tricking her.
Samantha had claimed they were going shopping, then suddenly decided they needed to drop off food at the lab.
Because there was too much to carry, she asked Stella for help.
The second they reached the lobby, Samantha suddenly got a 'work emergency' and had to leave immediately.

Roger's lips curved as he sat down on the sofa next to her.
