The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 2030

Stella was utterly speechless.

Could he really do that?

"I suppose it's not impossible," she finally replied after some thought. "Then, do you have a present you want?"

"I do."

Roger answered without hesitation. His dark eyes locked onto her face, his voice dropping into a husky, hypnotic whisper. "I want you..."

*What?*

Stella's heart leaped into her throat.

He wanted her... to be his girlfriend?

Well, that was a wish she could definitely fulfill.

"To be my wife."

Before Stella could even finish her romantic daydreams, the final four words crashed into her ears with the force of a freight train.

In a split second.

Every last shred of the girl's rationality shattered. Her mind buzzed like television static, and her entire body turned to stone.

"Stella, let's get married." Roger stared at the girl, his gaze drowning in absolute devotion. Her reflection was the only thing existing in his world right now, and there was not a single trace of a joke in his eyes.

"If we're destined to be together in this life, we might as well save time and simplify the process. Let's just skip straight to getting married."

She was floored.

Stella just stared at him, unable to produce a single sound.

Simplify the process... That was a little too simplified, wasn't it?

Good lord.

He was one step away from dragging the register office directly to his hospital bed.

Ever since she heard Roger's proposal, Stella had been wandering around in a total daze.

After making sure he took his medicine, Stella grabbed her phone and stepped out onto the balcony.

Opening her social media, she saw a flood of unread messages.

Her academic advisor, her classmates, and her college roommates.

Everyone was checking in on her health.

[I wasn't sure if you were feeling better, so I didn't want to call and bother you.]

[Stella! The cactus you left on the balcony is blooming! (Attached Image)]

[When are you coming back to campus? It's day eight of missing you.]

[The rest of the class has been asking about you too. Everyone is really worried.]

These messages were their way of telling Stella that no one cared about her past.

Stella: [Roger said his birthday is at the end of the month, but to save resources, he wants to celebrate it early with mine.]

A pause.

Charlotte stopped mid-sip. She paused for a moment, then typed back: [Oh? And what was his birthday wish?]

After sending the text, she waited a long time for a response.

Charlotte smelled something incredibly fishy.

Stella: [To marry me.]

Silence.

Reading Stella's reply, Charlotte set her glass down and turned to look at Anthony.

"What is it?"

Anthony turned his head, catching a glimpse of the chat logs. He offered an innocent shrug. "Roger's methods are truly getting more advanced by the day."

Advanced?

Charlotte sat in dead silence for two seconds. She picked up her iPad, pulling up Roger's personnel file.

Birthday: March 15th.

Tch.

His methods were getting more advanced, but the man was just getting more and more shameless.
