The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 2137

For a few agonizing seconds, there was dead silence.

Donald pulled his gaze away, his face and eyes hardening into an impenetrable mask of ice.

Then, without looking back, he kept walking.

"..."

Only after he had passed did Tansy finally slow her pace, turning to stare hungrily at his retreating back.

Four years.

He had probably forgotten all about her by now, hadn't he?

Or if he did remember, there was nothing left but absolute hatred.

"Miss Darnell—"

Seeing her lingering, her bodyguard urged her impatiently.

Smack!

Before the man could finish his sentence, Tansy delivered a savage backhand across his jaw.

"My father commands this estate. And after him, I do." She massaged her tingling right hand, elegantly readjusting her mink shawl. She swept a loose lock of hair behind her ear, lifting her chin with a regal, freezing arrogance. "Since when do I need your permission for what I do?"

"..."

The bodyguard instantly bowed his head, terrified into silence.

Everyone knew about the boss's daughter. On the surface, she seemed gentle and accommodating.

But beneath that fragile exterior was a woman utterly ruthless in her devotion.

Years ago, for Donald's sake, she had nearly burned The Stygian Syndicate to the ground.

If Vargas hadn't used Donald's life—and the life of her newborn son—to force her into submission...

The Syndicate would have been ashes by now.

"Get out of my sight," Tansy snapped, shooting the guard a murderous glare.

"Yes, ma'am."

The guards didn't dare utter another word, quickly stepping back to give her space.

Once Donald was completely out of sight, Tansy finally tore her eyes away and walked deeper into the labyrinthine corridors.

She had to find a way to get him off this island.

And from what she had gathered...

The mysterious 'Nine' they had brought in was actually his sister.

She had to make sure they both made it out alive.

In the dining hall.

A lavish spread covered the table.

Donald had fully expected to be marched to his execution, fully prepared to take Vargas down with him.

But when he was shoved into the dining room and saw a young woman casually sipping a glass of warm milk at the table, his blood ran cold.

How could she possibly care about the quality of the steak right now?!

"What do you think you're doing?"

Seeing Charlotte free their prisoner, the burly mercenaries instantly surged forward.

Bang!

Before the lead guard could even blink, a hand clamped around his throat like a steel vice, violently slamming his face directly into the dining table.

Or, more accurately, straight into a towering pile of discarded shrimp shells.

"What does it look like I'm doing? Tell me!"

"..."

The other mercenaries hadn't expected the delicate girl to move with such terrifying speed. They instantly drew their firearms, leveling them at the siblings.

"Back the hell up!" Seeing the muzzles pointed at his little sister, Donald instinctively threw himself in front of her, shielding her with his body. "If you touch her, I'll kill you!"

"..."

The girl currently staring down half a dozen loaded guns kept one hand firmly pressed against the guard's skull, while her other hand casually brought the final piece of steak to her lips.

She chewed slowly, washing it down with a sip of milk.

"It's fine." Charlotte patted Donald's shoulder, her tone incredibly relaxed. "Go sit back down."

"What?"

Donald was totally lost, not daring to lower his guard for a second.
