The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 427

“I told you to wear more, but you never listen.” Matthew gently laid the blanket over Lavinia and then scooped her up, blanket and all, into his arms.

“Babe, do you think Anthony misses us?” Lavinia nestled closer to him, one hand gripping the blanket, the other brushing against the bruise on her forehead. She winced, frowning. “He must, right? Otherwise, why do I keep sneezing?”

They were supposed to go back to the Blair house that very day, but the moment they got off the plane, they ended up in a car accident. Nothing life threatening, just a few scrapes and bruises. Not wanting to worry Patricia, they decided to keep a low profile and heal up for a couple of days before heading home.

It probably wasn’t Anthony who missed them, though. Anthony had probably forgotten he even had parents at this point.

Matthew just smiled softly, not saying anything to ruin her mood. Instead, he picked up a piece of already sliced fruit and brought it to her lips.

“Come on, open wide.”

He fed her, she ate, the two of them moving in total sync. They had done this a thousand times before and it never got old.

Lavinia nibbled happily on the fruit, phone in hand, scrolling through the news. Suddenly, her eyes went wide.

“Babe, is this Charlotte?”

Matthew glanced down and saw the headline stretched across her screen: National Exam Top Scorer—Charlotte.

Vanguard High had produced plenty of provincial top students, but the national exam was a whole different league. Millions of students competed, and landing first place was more than just about being smart.

“She’s amazing,” Lavinia breathed as she read on. When she saw the score report, she nearly dropped her phone. “Every subject is a perfect score except for literature.”
