The class group chat was buzzing with activity as students started sharing their exam results. This year’s test had been brutal, way tougher than anyone expected. Even students who were usually at the top of their game were left shaking their heads at the scores they got.
[Does anyone know how Charlotte did?]
Someone tossed the question into the chat, and suddenly, everyone was talking about her.
[I bet she didn’t score lower than last time.]
[Looks like she’s the only one who hasn’t posted yet.]
[Maybe she didn’t do well and doesn’t want to say.]
[Could be.]
Eleanor was just as anxious as the rest. She wanted to call Charlotte so badly but forced herself to wait. Charlotte had gone through a lot before the exam. Her study schedule had been thrown off for weeks, so nobody could blame her if her results weren’t perfect.
Charlotte glanced at the group chat, a tiny smile tugging at her lips. She was about to screenshot her score and send it when a message from Kenneth popped up.
Kenneth: [Lottie, how’d it go? No matter what, you’re the best in my book!]
Right after that, Roger chimed in.
Roger: [It’s not about the number. As long as it’s enough, right?]
Charlotte checked Anthony’s social media but found nothing new. What she didn’t know was that Anthony was glued to his computer, refreshing the Vanguard High School feed, waiting for any update.
“Has Vanguard High announced who got the top score this year yet?” Anthony asked.
“Not yet,” Hans replied. “But Andrew’s result is out. He got 510.”
Barely over the line, honestly.
“For him, a 510 is basically a miracle,” Anthony said, a hint of a smile on his face. He kept waiting for the top scorer to be announced.
“Do you think…” Hans hesitated, clearly worried. “Charlotte didn’t do well?”
If she had done great, the whole school would have exploded the second the scores were released.
