"Really?" Stella's voice was barely above a whisper.
"Of course." Charlotte nodded, her eyes sparkling with pride. "Where I go, that's where the best school is."
No one argued with her. Honestly, it made sense.
"As long as you're happy," someone said.
Charlotte smiled, then turned to Shirley. "Mr. Lane called me earlier. Just put down The Cabinda University for physics."
If Shirley got into that program, she would officially become Mr. Lane's student. Her future would be set.
"Okay!" Shirley nodded, her whole face lighting up.
Seeing the decisions falling into place, Parrish spoke up. "Kingswood University has a great law program. Unless something unexpected happens, that's where I'm applying."
Law was Kingswood's best program. Definitely a solid choice.
"What about you?" Charlotte looked at Andrew.
"I..." Andrew looked miserable. Picking a major felt even harder than taking the exams. "My score is only ten points above last year's cutoff for Kingswood..."
It felt risky.
Before anyone could respond, Anthony spoke up from across the room. "Just apply for Business Administration at Kingswood."
It was one of the less popular majors, so if Andrew put it down as his first choice, he’d almost certainly get in. Plus, that knowledge would be useful for running The Blair Group one day.
"I'll do what you say."
Andrew felt a wave of relief. He'd get to stay with Parrish and Stella. But then his eyes drifted to Shirley across the room, and his smile faded. He wouldn't see her as much anymore.
As if sensing his gaze, Shirley looked up and smiled softly. "The Cabinda University and Kingswood aren't far from each other. It'll be easy to meet up."
How could she still smile when they were about to be apart? She was so heartless.
