The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 708

Carmelita’s face lost all color after what Charlotte said.

“As for this so-called sister…” Charlotte settled onto the sofa, looking completely in control. “Go ahead, bring Olivia here. If she has the guts to call me her sister, I’ll forgive you.”

Carmelita couldn’t say a word. She knew just how bad things were between Olivia and Charlotte. Now that Charlotte was the princess of The Gates Family, there was no way she’d even spare Olivia a glance.

“The photos really were leaked by accident. I didn’t mean to post them online,” Carmelita said, her voice shaky. She stood frozen, fists clenched, eyes brimming with tears. “Letty can vouch for me.”

It made a huge difference whether she’d done it on purpose or not. If it was just a mistake, then maybe they wouldn’t kick her out. The Gates Family was one of the most powerful in Cabinda, but if people found out they were using their influence to force a student out, it would look terrible.

That was it. She had to stick to the story that it was an accident. As long as Letty backed her up, this would blow over.

It didn’t take long for Letty to be called into the office too. She looked completely composed, like she’d seen this coming.

“Letty, please, explain things for me.” Carmelita reached for her, grabbing Letty’s arm like it was her last hope.

Letty stood her ground, barely glancing at Carmelita, a flash of irritation in her eyes. Then she looked at Charlotte, her gaze turning cold.

“Letty, Carmelita says the photos got out by accident. Is that true?” the dean asked.

Carmelita stared at Letty, desperate. If Letty just said yes, maybe she wouldn’t get expelled.

“About the photos…” Letty’s voice was calm and steady. “Carmelita did talk to me. She said she suspected Charlotte of… well, bad behavior. But whenever I tried to ask for details, she never gave me a straight answer. She just told me to focus on studying.”

“I’ll be going now.”

Letty nodded politely, gave Charlotte a long, thoughtful look, and started to leave. She passed by Carmelita, but was suddenly stopped.

“Letty, what’s that supposed to mean? You’re just going to leave me?” Carmelita’s voice shook, full of disbelief.

Letty pulled her hand free and spoke quietly, just for Carmelita. “I don’t like Charlotte either, but I never asked you to go after her. You did this on your own. It’s your problem, not mine.”

Without looking back, Letty walked out of the office. Her words hit Carmelita like ice water, leaving her cold all over. In that moment, Carmelita finally understood—Letty had never seen her as a real friend.
