The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 880

The words caught in his throat. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t get them out.

Charlotte slowed down as she walked through the rose garden. She reached out, picked a flower, and rolled it gently between her fingers. When she got to the bedroom door, one of the bodyguards stopped her with a cold expression. “Mrs. Hawk’s room doesn’t allow anything inside.”

Charlotte didn’t respond. Franco, who was right behind her, stepped forward instead. His face was tight as he barked, “Move.”

The bodyguard hesitated, glancing back and forth between Franco and Charlotte. He didn’t get it. Why was Franco suddenly letting her bring things in? Still, he stepped aside without another word.

“Come on.” Franco pushed the door open and looked back at Charlotte, his voice suddenly soft.

“Yeah.” Charlotte’s reply was quiet. She stepped inside. The second she reached the entryway, Nora’s voice rang out from deeper in the room, frantic and raw.

“Where’s my Lottie? Don’t stop me! I want to see her!”

Her voice was sharp and shaky, thick with tears. The sound of it hit Charlotte right in the chest.

She stopped, took a breath, and steadied herself before speaking, her voice low and calm. “I told you before. Your heart can’t handle too much excitement.”

Nora froze at the sound. Her eyes snapped to Charlotte, and the moment she saw her, the tears that had been building finally spilled over.

Lottie… She really is here…

Charlotte pressed her lips together and walked over to Nora’s side, taking the bowl of medicine the doctor had prepared. “You just coughed up a lot of bad blood. Your stomach’s empty. This medicine will help your stomach and heal your intestines.”

Charlotte didn’t pull away. She wiped away Nora’s tears, her own face pale. “If you keep crying, how can we talk?”

Nora stiffened. She realized Charlotte wasn’t pushing her away. She wiped at her tears, almost frantically. “I’m done. I won’t cry anymore, I promise.”

“Lottie, can I hold you? Please?” Nora looked at her, desperate and hopeful, her eyes red and raw.

Charlotte’s eyes burned, her chest tight. She glanced at Nora’s broken expression and her heart softened. She bent down just a little.

“Lottie!” Nora pulled her in for a hug, holding her so tight it was like she’d never let go. The tears spilled over again, and this time, Nora let herself cry out loud.
