The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 900

“Don’t worry. After taking the medicine you left, Grandma woke up.”

Charlotte pressed her lips together, her eyes clouded with worry. Grandma was just too old. She’d hoped the medicine would hold her over for a while, but less than a month later, everything had gone downhill so fast.

At least they had Covid-X now.

“We’re going back to Cabinda tomorrow,” Charlotte said softly.

“Tomorrow?”

She nodded. “Yeah. Mom’s test results are with Dr. David, and we’ve got a lot to go over with him.”

“Alright.” Anthony finished drying her hair, then scooped her up and carried her to bed. By the time he came back from putting away the hairdryer, she was already curled up under the blanket, sound asleep.

He’d thought she’d have trouble sleeping somewhere new, but clearly, he’d been wrong. Maybe it was just easier because this was her parents’ house. Maybe here, she finally felt safe.

Anthony sat beside her and leaned down, brushing a gentle kiss across her forehead. His eyes softened. “Lottie finally has parents who love her.”

He tucked the blanket up around her and left a small lamp on, moving quietly as he slipped out of the room. Meeting her parents for the first time, he couldn’t risk leaving a bad impression.

The moment he opened the door, he found Franco standing right outside. Franco’s tense shoulders eased a little as soon as he saw Anthony.

“Come with me for a second,” Franco said, keeping his voice low.

“Especially…” Franco hesitated, his voice barely above a whisper. “Years ago, the Hawk Family arranged a marriage for their eldest daughter.”

An arranged marriage? The words hit Anthony like a spark. He actually knew a bit about the Hawk Family. The firstborn of the eldest son, boy or girl, was always meant to be the next heir. And that always came with a marriage alliance.

It suddenly made sense—maybe that was why Franco left his family in the first place.

“Now the Hawk Family doesn’t have an heir. If they ever find out…” Franco’s face turned cold and hard. “I won’t let my daughter go back there and become someone’s puppet. I won’t let her end up like Nora or me.”

Arranged marriage. The future heir of the Hawk Family.

Anthony clenched his hand at his side, every muscle tense. Only one thought echoed in his mind. Lottie belongs to me.
