The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 907

“You…”

Dorothy was still dizzy from the hit. She struggled to her feet, glancing around at the onlookers, then glared at Matthew and Lavinia, her voice shaking with outrage. “Your whole family has been completely fooled by Steven’s girl!”

For all her bluster, she was only nineteen. Sure, she knew her way around medicine. But open-heart surgery on someone that old? Patricia’s body couldn’t possibly handle it. Not just anyone could pull off a procedure like that, especially not her.

“She’s not even married to Anthony yet, and she already dares to treat me like this!” Dorothy fought against her restraints, her anger boiling over. “Is she going to be running this house now?”

“That’s right,” Lavinia snapped, giving Dorothy a look that could cut glass. “From now on, Lottie is in charge of the Blair family, and everyone answers to her. If you don’t like it, you know where the door is.”

The Blairs were only this powerful because of Anthony. Dorothy got to dress in designer labels, mingle with high society, all thanks to him.

“You’ve been scheming all along, haven’t you? Just waiting for Patricia to die so you can grab the inheritance?” Dorothy was so angry her chest hurt. As she spoke, Andrew appeared, looking pale after being sick.

He’d already heard about the chaos inside. His mother had been tied up for getting in the way of Charlotte’s treatment and now she was making a scene. He actually agreed with Charlotte’s decision. If it were anyone else mouthing off like this, he’d have slapped them already.

“Andrew, untie me!” Dorothy demanded, her tone icy.

“I warned you not to mess with Charlotte,” Andrew replied, not moving an inch. His voice was flat, almost tired. “You brought this on yourself.”

“You ungrateful son!”

“Lock Dorothy in her room. She can come out when the surgery’s over,” Matthew said coldly, pulling Lavinia close as they headed for the operating room.

“Andrew, are you even still my son?”

Andrew just looked at her, his brow furrowed, and answered quietly, “Not for now.”

Charlotte gave Lavinia a reassuring smile, then turned and saw Anthony waiting. He handed her two chocolate bars and a glass of milk.

“Eat something. You need your strength.”

“Thanks.” Charlotte took a couple of quick bites. There was no time for more. She gathered the medical team and headed inside.

The doors closed behind them.

Anthony stayed in the empty hallway, not moving, his tall frame sharp in his black coat. His strong features looked even colder in the harsh light, as if nothing could touch him.

“Anthony, will Lottie really be able to hold out that long?” Lavinia asked in a low voice, unable to hide her worry.
